Welcome to Librarium Online!
Okay i am kinda new to The Tau i have been playing with them for about 7 months. i have only played agianst Imperial Guard and i have done okay. my record is like 3-2-2. But now i am going to face and nid and Necron army i need some strategies to fight them PLZ help me out here.
fusion blasters, rail rifles, plasma rifles, and vespid
All of which makes me anxious, sometimes unbearably so
oy, them vespids are a tricky l;ot to use, i believe that they are effective if played right (i have no clue how) Something about cleaning up small squads or some such and consloidating into cover or somthing... i think rikimaru or xofek or some one made a thread about these...
i have never played necrons, but i am pretty sure the ion cannon is effective against monoliths.
Tau'cena Intercept Legion W2-L4-D2
I have never played necrons, but i am pretty sure the ion cannon is effective against monoliths.
SystemiK i think your thinking about rail guns as ion cannos can't even hurt a monolith since it has 14 armor on all sides. But ya rail guns are very effective against monoliths...makes necron players groan when they see one...well if they have a monolith that is .
Is it me or does any other necron player get annoyed when they see people saying "Necrons eat souls". How is that even possible as souls are part of the warp and necrons want nothing to do with it? Eh probaly me just me being picky.

Rail guns are great for the large pie plate, and suits are wonderful against swarms since they can shoot-jump-shoot. You really shouldn't have too much trouble with them. Firewarriors, kroot and even drones can lay down heavy, heavy flack as they approach.
One thing to remember is that while in synapse range nids can't be insta-killed. Fortunately, another thing to remember is that they really don't have any invulnerable saves to speak of. If you can wound a large creature without it getting a cover save then plasma pierces the saves on most large creatures, as do rail guns. But overall it's the railgun for the large blast template which is a real asset.
Flechette dischargers on vehicles can surprised an unwary opponent with a large number of wounds after he attacks a vehicle.
Necrons are just plain rough. Plasma is useful, and it's possible for us to shoot down the monolith, but if they have a ressurection orb they can get back up even if they're insta killed (within a certain range of the orb). Just mass your firepower until a squad falls and hope for the best. Outrange what units you can, and try to kill the extremely fast units such as destroyers ASAP.
Ask yourself why in the world would you trust a win loss record? Playing them yourself is the only way to tell.
The true joy in the game is playing down to the last model, no matter the odds.
