I was thinking of hearing some opinions of DE retinue, how many incubi/warriors/wyches is enough to bring down certain enemie squads like necrons/marines and daemonhunters. I also would like to hear some upgrade notes about whats given to lord and his men,
for example, in my 2000 point army I have 2 retinues of...
Drachon with punisher, drugs, Torm helm, Hell mask, trophy rack
Raider with disie and horrofex
(My common enemies are necrons, marines, chaos and inquisition.
In my 1500 point, I have only one of those
In my 1000 point I have...
Lod on a bike, agoniser, shadow field, drugs and torm helm
So far, all have worked very well for me..
I figure the retinue is of most importance so I would like to hear some opinions
Against those power-armored armies I would use 5 to 6 Incubi - are you using a shadowfield here?Originally Posted by WraithGuardian
If running wyches I always max it out. Wyches need to kill as many as possible in the opening charge so they can have a comfortable next round. In fact, one wych squad isn't enough and would consider adding any IC to the squad because one wych squad will get bogged down and will lose more than they need to continue being an effective fighting force.
With HQ/Retinue Raiders I will not mount a Horrorfex - but for the Wych raider I will use a Disintegrator to get those extra kills before the charge (no sense getting a horrorfex if you are going into CC). Only with Raider Squads or Grotesques do I use a Horrorfex. I sometimes use mount a Dissy on the raider squads but why pay the extra points if you are firing the horrorfex? Yah, the raider can try and pin another unit (a threatening unit elsewhere) but I usually try keep the raider focused on the enemy unit that its deployed squad is targetting.1000 points I dont use retinues, too expensive and I am trying to get the list to adhere to the force organization - just a personal preference.Originally Posted by WraithGuardian
15000 - most common set up for me is a Dracon Reaver Lord with a Dracite w/a maxed wych retinue, on a raider (w/dissie) in the warp. Also, a Dracon w/5 incubi and a Dracite w/a maxed wych retinue, on a raider (w/dissie) is what I would use for your armies you listed.
2000 - Reaver lord with a huge reaver bike force and Dracite w/a maxed wych retinue, on a raider (w/dissie).
I can't seem to just let my Lord run around lone wolf. I know he has more range and can take care of himself but I feel he is weaker and needs more coordination with other units and I just cant do it.
I found that my incubi retinue was getting pasted as often as it was effective. I now take a second wytch squad instead. I only ever used them to hunt regular troops but the other guy always found a way to throw elites or his uber HQ into the combat. DE retinue's just don't stand up to massed power weapons (except wytche retinues)
I can't believe that your Dracons aren't killed in the first round of combat, without a Shadowfield they only have a 5+ save. If one does have a field then the other one is a huge, easily killed point sink if you give him wargear.
I found that Punisher Archon + 4 incubi + 2 Warriors could assualt a 10 man TAC, clear the killing zone, consolidate into the remaining models and finish it off in his assault phase.
I always take a Horrorfex on everything, there are always stragler units not in CC that can be pinned.
