--Flayed Ones moved to a Troop choice.
--Pariahs reformed to make them useful. Lower price by 4-8 points maybe.
--Have some other options to upgrade Warriors other than the useless D-fields.
--Maybe some other HQ choice (an uber Immortal maybe)
I love the Necrons, but they lack any sort of orginisational strategy. You have to have 500 points in Warriors and a Lord, and they have only one legitimate Elite choice. Anything you do to a list is tweaking more than setting up an army style.
Necrons are by far the most static and predictable army (actually my three fav units are all in the Fast Attack section which makes it even harder) in their set up. Some small changes would make them much more flexable and allow for many more army configurations.
Haha, i agree with most of what you propose, but I disagree with your reasoning
I have never seen, or won with, a static Necron army. With so many points and so much power tied up in rapid fire Warriors, you cannot win by holding back! You need to get in the opponent's face, rapid fire, and then teleport away to win. Necrons are also supposed to be implacable and slowish. That's the fluff.
That being said, I like almost all of your ideas  I would love to be able to have a FO based force- a sort of 'horror movie' Necron army, with flayed ones, wraiths, and scarabs playing out a night of the metallic dead on some unfortunate marines Moving FO to troops makes sense, especially for a nightbrionger-themed force.
I kind of feel that The Necron Lord is an over-immortal (uber means over, not super ), but I would like to see a different kind of normal HQ choice available, esp. for low points games where the actual presence of a Necron Lord is kind of extreme. the SM Master isn't always going to lead every little sortie- there is also the Commander. I think since the Necron Lord is the current 'energy focus' for the force, he sould be revamped with a more active roll, and a second, less expensive HQ added with a focus more towards boosting WBB. Then maybe we can avoid the Res. Orb being mandatory equipment :w00t:
Pariahs definitely need to be fixed- they are just not as useful as Immortals right now. Their only real benefits over immortals come at close range, and without WBB, they'll never get there. I think either a points drop, or perhaps changing thier save to inv. would be good.
And finally, the disruption field (let's not confuse it with the harlies' D-field ) is useless on warriors. I think that fields are a good upgrade for warriors, though, like a replacement for grenades. So maybe lightning fields can be bought for Warriors (Dragon fluff anyone?), or Gaze of Flame. I don't know if including heavy weapons in Warrior squads is very fluffy, however, even if I really do want to see some kind of freaky 3-necrons-fused-together style heavy weapon for the squads
I actually had a few extra destroyer arms and found that they make great heavy weapon conversions on normal warriors. I don't actually use them as Gauss Cannons obviously but they look great and I can see weapon options for warriors being quite workable.
Nevermore Chapter: 6200 pts; 97/49/11; Longest Streak: 9 Wins/4 Losses; Nearing Completion
By static I think he meant that the lists people tend to use are rather static. One can deviate but usually for little benefit and usually little change in the basic strat.
While this may fit the "endless and unchanging" theme of the army, there is less options for 'mixing it up' with the necrons. Throwing a monolith in if people are too fixated on anti-troop weapons. But overall a good chunk of your army is going to be quite predictable.
Personally, I'd like to see something done to make taking Pariah's more attractive. Possibly the ability to have necron armies devoted to specific Ctan, allowing an excuse for variety in an army whose theme is uniformity.
This is all wishfull thinking of course but If anything, move pariah to troop choice! It says in the codex that "pariahs are the new standard for the necrons" or somesuch so it would make sense to make them more common. I would also bring their cost up (to 50pts maybe??) and give them WBB.
But all these changes would seriously unbalance the army toward other armies. As it stands right now, Necrons are some of the most resilient and firepower intensive armies. Even now they are being accused of cheese by some players, no changes needed I think. However, a new troop choice would be SO welcome...
Has anybody thought of giving pariahs a 2+ save. It would mean they'd be hard as nails and potentially devastating to anything they get to but you've got plenty of opportunity to take them down before they get to you.

The reason why we are called cheesy is that we are already unbalanced. Necrons need to be changed to be brought back to a balanced state. Necron armies in tournament play (the most competitive and therefore the most similar) almost always beat tau lose to nids and so on down the list.
Too often Necron games are decided by simply looking at which army your opponent plays. I think that changes if done properly could re balance as opposed to unbalance
We could also change some of our over powered units for example the monolith could jump up in points and so could destroyers and perhaps immortals

you'd be Canada.
Bill: actually i think its more like 70 cents.

I don't know about you but I still don't believe necrons are really that cheesy as how many times do you usually see necron in tournament let alone WINING one or at least in my area. Last tournament I went too the only necron player got dead last....I really don't see what people are compliaing about as eldar are more broken then necrons at the moment and thats why they're getting a new codex to balance them out.Originally Posted by beckboy
Is it me or does any other necron player get annoyed when they see people saying "Necrons eat souls". How is that even possible as souls are part of the warp and necrons want nothing to do with it? Eh probaly me just me being picky.
