Welcome to Librarium Online!
Sorry if this is a repost, but I checked back a couple pages and didn't see anything
Not sure how many people saw this, as it's been burried deep in the bowels of the GW site.
once there it should bring up a Flash player, simply hold the mouse over the "agents of xenos" tab, and select "Tau"
Apparently these are made by individual players who then sent them into GW for the campaign.
just thought people might see em and be inspired to make some of their own.
personally my favorite one is this one:
and I'm currently thinking of makeing a suit based off a similar wing design.
there are some other really cool looking ones like this:
*still can't believe they used the Forge World Shas'O R'ymr model for it though >.< *
Some are ok, but most of them are godawful, to fussy, and over the top for my liking, the best Tau suit conversion i have seen is a simple one in white dwarf magazine (cant remember the number but its one of the recent issues about the Tau codex release) where an XV8 has been painted to look like it has a mirror finish, now that is a gorgeous piece of work and makes these look crude.

Wow, I had not seen these. They look pretty awesome although I think some of the best conversions aren't on tau models, I loved the ork defiler and unicycle guy. The tau ones are pretty cool too but look a little more mainstream and predictable.

Thanks for the link.
Going throught the whole gallery has given me several ideas and inspirations as I consider building the ForgeWorld Commander crisis suit I picked up at GamesDay in 2005.

well, in I believe the Medusa 5 section of that area there's another photo gallery, which has the same models minus the ones that have been killed.
in non tau terms, my favorite model was one of the eldar ones:
in my opinion, the best use of the necron "deciever" body I've seen (including on a necron deciever).

I too appreciate the orks more than the Tau, some are over-the-top, some IMO are just not that good. Same goes for the SMs, yikes!
The two tau you picked to show are probably my favorites of the tau shown on the GW site though.

I do agree, for conversions, alot of them aren't that appealing, but about 1 out of 10 will cause you to be like: O.O I want that!Originally Posted by artificer
overall i liked them, but that one with the surfing etherial made me cry. they also need to be reminded that rail guns are too heavy to be mounted on a crisis suit, no matter how much of your conversion is stolen almost directly from mech warrior.
All of which makes me anxious, sometimes unbearably so
well, broadside are specially fitted with 2 due to a balancing system (in place of the jetpack) and an heavy duty shoes.Originally Posted by Xofek
true I don't think that a normal crisis could carry two, but one system supported by both arms could still fit within the weight load. also, carefully calculated thrusts could cancel out most recoil from firing the weapon, as well as (if arm fitted) increased load bearing arms. There would of course have to be special rules in affect for moving.
I think it could be done with special rules.
