Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have the following in my army:
lord with retinue of 2 warriors with s-cannons, 4 incubi - in a raider
3 squads of 10 wyches (wweapons and p-nades) in raiders
6 squads of 10 warriors (1 splinter cannon) in raiders
1 ravenger (2 disinitrators)
squad of 10 bikes with 2 blasters.
i was playing an insane iron warriors army, with a great player behind them.
hostage retreval, i attack (duh im DE)
i set as much terrain in the center as possible. i formed a rather large wall.
i had to pretty much make a wall of raiders. warriors on each side with 1 squad of wyches on each flank, the lord and the last wyches in the middle. ravenger on the left, bikes on the right.
He infiltrated 3 units into the wall of terrain.
I got first turn.
I ran my raiders up to the wall, my ravenger out of cover (to get a shot) and my bikes all the way to the opposite side of the board. I shot the crap out of the infiltration squads (about %50 gone) and destroyed a havoc squad. ravenger dissapointed me, only killing 2 havocs.
ravenger is downed, along with 1 raider.
i jump 4 raiders (with warriors) over the wall and start laying fire on his remaining units. i let the infiltrating remainders meet wyches. i slaughtered the poor bastards.
the basalisk missed again. He quit.
i took 5 casulties + 2 tanks. i killed %75 of his army. did i do it right?
I can't even begin to discuss with you how many things you got wrong.
A second turn victory????
How can you even call yourself a general? :x
minimalism is the key.
Congrats on a most excellent first game. I wish I had been so lucky, I had to claw my way to a draw. I'm surprised he let you set all the terrain though. I think you both gambled on getting first turn and he lost the bet.
If he had gone first and managed to hit more with his ordinance you wouldn't have beaten him until turn 4 or 5.

listen pal you did great but i wouldnt really count that as a victory. just because his tank didnt do so well was no reason to quit so i think that you should fight someone with a bit more integrity. also, i never use wyches. they got ripped apart by some korn bezerkers and i sorta gave up on them. but wutever floats your boat. good luck in the future...:ninja:
Hmm... my wyches dominate khorne bezerkers but oh well, against armies like that, the counter assault tactic from the codex or a variation of it works wonders.
To your list, 10 bikes is a bit of a waste, for example, 2 units of 5, or 3-4 bikes, allows double the blasters for tank hunting and big units like that are harder to manuver and keep behind cover. Then you could slap another disintegrator onto your ravager. (10 lances and 4 blasters is quite enough anti tanks and the extra firepower will make a big difference.) Aside from those things in the list, you did great.
