Me and my friends recently started playing WH40K and one of them is the Tau. And well we are all still getting are armies together so we really wanted to play and we used substitutes for pieces. Any we played Infantry only and his devilfish is infantry and when my warriors attack it he says I have to roll a 6 to hit a 6 to penetrate and a 6 to wound. Well I think its only two 6's and does he still get an armor save. So could some one clear this up.
Are you attacking the Fish in HtH or shooting it? In HtH, you would need Disruption Fields on your Warriors to be able to hurt the tank (unless you were attacking a side with AV 10).
As far as shooting goes, you need only 2 6s to kill it. You roll to hit as normal, then you need to roll a 6 on the armor pen roll to score a glance (per Gauss rules in the codex...page 11 or 13 I think). After that, you would roll on the glancing table (which on the roll of a 6 would destroy the tank)

-Arnoldunit Schwarzenecronegger; when questioned about the impending doom he would rain down upon the heads of his doomed enemies.
3,4,5 or 6 to hit.
6 to glance (roll on the glance chart)
then 6 to destroy (don't forget if it has moved more than 12 an Immoblised will kill it also)
Devilfish is a vehicle; it gets no 'armor save', that is what the armor pen./glance tables are for.
