Concerning the character Iyanna Arienal: Is her surname Iyanna or Arienal? The Codex refers to her as Arienal which would suggest that is her first name. But, as Iyanna is listed first in her name, it leaves me a bit confused.
I need to know this detail as I would like to use her family name in the name of my Iyanden army.
My army fluff in brief: The Iyanna/Arienal lineage suffered many loses in the Tyranid attack on their craftworld. Not only were lives lost, but the Iyanden Craftworld was damaged to such a degree that the Infinity Circuit was breeched and the many souls of the dead were lost; the greater portion of these being from the Arienal bloodline. What remains of the House of Arienal, the living and the dead, has sworn to redeem their dead through whatever means necessary. And so, they don the Eldar colors of mourning and take up their weapons to avenge their ancestry.
If anyone has the answer to my query I would appreciate your reponse.

Generally, when referring to notable personalities that the surname is used. It is a sign of respect. So the name used in the text is the surname. For instance, Eldrad Ulthran would be simply referred to as 'Ulthran'.
Now prepare for the 17 posts here saying the same thing, then maybe an argument over the latest Maugan-Ra model.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
Wait...There's a new Maugan Ra model? :rofl:Originally Posted by <E!_Mance>
Archeantus, your army's backstory sounds very cool except for one minor thing: is this your own craftworld using the Iyanden rule-set or is this your extrapolation of the published Iyanden backstory?

I've always heard him referred to as Eldrad....
That's my job.
Well, the response seems to be mixed but I do appreciate the feedback. I guess I'll just go with House of Arienal.
Yes, this is an Iyanden Craftworld army. However, my fluff focuses on just the Arienal family. Since we are not provided with these details I came up with my own. I envision the Arienal lineage being one of the largest families of the Iyanden Craftworld.
After the Tyranid envasion, the Eldar of Iyanden began to rebuild as best they could. But, Iyanna and her kin know the reality of their home's fate... the Craftworld Iyanden is dying. So great is the fury of their vengeance, they would risk complete annihilation to redeem their family.
But, they are not completely blinded by hate, for their mission is two-fold: The spiritseers are so atuned to the world of the dead that they can sense spirits from miles away; namely, their ancestors that were lost from the Ifinity Curcuit during the tyranid onslaught. It has been rumored that the Spiritseers of the House of Arienal have developed a process to restore an Eldar soul to a spiritstone even after it has been lost to the warp. With this knowledge, they hurl themselves through the warp in their war frigates hunting down the Tyranid and searching for the souls so precious to them.
Deserters, the prodigal children on Iyanden, the House of Arienal will not rest until every lost soul is restored, not until the Hive Mind is slain... or until every last one of them is dead.
