I don't know if this is a new strategy, but i was thinking, maybe instead of grots, you could have stormboys rocket themselves towards the enemy frontlines to distract the enemy while your boyz move up and chop em. What do you guys think?
not really a new stratgety but it would work.
“Krump first, assk qweztions neva'!"- 3000 Orks
Dark Eldar- 1500 1/0/0
"the very gods for vengeance cry”- 3000 Dwarves
That's actually one of the "distractions" I was thinking about using with my boyz.
The special character where you can do the 12'' charge would work very well, backed up by 2 full trukks of boyz, and the rest of the foot sloggaz comingup the rear to put da hurtin on.
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
the problem with replacing stormboyz with grotz it the points cost and the numbers. If you made a full grot squad and full storm squad there is a huge point gap. also if you opponent decides to shoot at your distraction you could afford to lose a lot more numbers from the grots than the storm boyz
Stormboys are an awful expensive distraction. Nothing beats good old grot shielding.
"...a swarm of mechanised locusts sweeping over the land, stripping it bare of resources, bringing death and destruction to anything that stands in its path. Emperor preserve us against the predations of these so-called Orkish cults of speed!" - Cardinal Nomura at the Conclave of Hessen
Well, you could use storm boys to distract the more powerful Shooty enemies.
a defferent idea would be to use kommando
infiltrate buy placing them in cover 12" from your enemy
they wound ignore the unit with two burna and a PK nob
you charge what ever comes around the corner
and its slighty less points then stormboyz, but better equiped than grotz
Orks are funny creatures, if they get an idea like this and think it'll work, it normally will.
Just make sure you keep them out of LOS for a few turns cos they will get chewed up.
distraction is a big part of being orky.
i use a battlewagon to soak up fire that would otherwise be on my trukks full of nobz. by the time they get around to shooting my trukks the nobz are already within charge range.
I made the stormboyz list a few days ago. I like it a lot.
