Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok I got my first Carnivex and hive tyrant yesterday, but I don't know how to go about building them. When I was at the store they said I should wash it? And also drill small holes into the Hive Tyrant with the drill they have[I have had it for awhile], but I don't know how to start doing this at home, could anyone give me some tips?
Hey mate, welcome to LO.
Each kit should have an instruction booklet telling you how to put it together - look for this and follow the instructions.
It is always a good idea to wash models; during production they get coated in a liquid to ease removal from the mould. You need to give your models a good wash to get this fluid off (It can make painting the model a pain, so washing it off is definately worth the effort).
The people in your GW store were referring to pinning you model. This is a technique used to strengthen the join between two large/heavy/poorly fitting pieces. For example, I pinned the legs onto my carnifex as they form the join that takes much of the weight of the model (and the pieces don't fit together all that well). All you need to do is drill a hole in both pieces at the point at which they join (ensure the holes line up!). Then take a length of wire, glue it into one of the pieces, and slot this combo onto the other piece. This makes the join much stronger, therefore more durable.
Another essential tip is to test fit your model together before you glue it! This allows you to get the pose just right.
Good luck mate.
Hope this helps.
take a look here and here for further pinning advice.
Oh I think I get it, thanks man, but how should I wash it and also what should I wash it in?
There is a good guide to washing models here. It refers to resin models, but the same things apply to plastics as well.
I use this method and can say it works quite well.
Hope this helps.
Welcome to the world of Tyranids , well ive never heard of washing lol and i have a whole 800 point army ohwell now i know that i should wash my models b4 painting If you need anymore questions answered im more then happier to try my best to help you out !!!
Wash? What's a wash? :p
I've never washed a single model I own.. might explain why some just refuse to stay glued together but i'd rather blame it on the garbage glue. Paint and primer sticks to them nicely though. I know you HAVE to wash the resin ones.. but the normal ones, i've never really needed to.
which one are resin ones ????Originally Posted by jackofasses
Resin ones are the models from Forge World which you have to order from their website. They are usually highly detailed but also cost a lot as well though most people thinks its worth it. Also Forge World has most of the bigger stuff of WH40K like titans or as for the tyranids bio titans you probally should check it out (if not just to look at the beautiful models).Originally Posted by surferchick89
Is it me or does any other necron player get annoyed when they see people saying "Necrons eat souls". How is that even possible as souls are part of the warp and necrons want nothing to do with it? Eh probaly me just me being picky.
