Hey guys, I need some expert nid advice and I know nothing about them.
To get to the short of it - I want to use a piece of wargear in the Dark Eldar army called Crucible of Malediction. Its a trapped soul of a psyker that is released from its container. It travels to the nearest psyker and causes a leadership check, if it fails then the psyker is removed from play. If it misses then it travels to the next psyker and that target must roll as well...blah, blah, blah.
So my question is:
Who are the psykers? and
does their synapse autopass this attack (does this item affect the psykers at all)?
I am presuming that this crucible wargear item is causing a psychic test - since psychic tests are based on the leadership stats.
Thanks in advance!
If the psychic attack forces the target to make a Psychic Test then no, the Tyranids don't auto-pass.
However, if the wording says that it forces the target to make a Leadership Test, then yes, the Tyranids auto-pass.
Re-read the exact wording of the power, if it doesn't say psychic test, then it isn't one (even if it mimics the effects of one).
I have the DE codex right here, and it says Ld test. So you would auto-pass.
Hive Fleet Furi Kuri 32/21/4
Tomb Kings: 8/5/2

Okay, thanks - just thought since it mentions psykers in every sentence it should be a psyker test but the wording is old and it doesnt say take a psyker test.
Oh well, thanks!!!
Well this is complicated in wording because synpase only aut-passes leadership test that are not physcic tests or target aquisition (p. 28 Tyranids), so at first it seemed like it would still work. But in the hive mind powers section (p. 31 Tyranids), it says that only powers which require a psychic test can be cancelled by other pychers and wargear. Synapse, and warpfield while we are on the subject, are "always on" and never require a physcic test. So the crucible, being a piece of wargear (p. 6 Dark Eldar) cannot cancel or affect synpase or warpfield.

The Crucible doesn't cancel out Psychic Powers. It simply kills Psykers. As has been mentioned, it's useless against Tyranids, since three out of our four Psyker units are also Synapse Creatures. The remaining Psyker, Zoanthropes, don't always have Synapse, but will likely be under its effect anyway. In general, choosing to take the Crucible against Tyranids is merely a waste of points.Originally Posted by thedrifter777
