    SmartFish Poll

Mainly looking for ppl who have actually used this to respond, but any opinions on the matter would help.

Who here has used the SmartFish (devilsifh+MT+SMS+TA)? Initially this looked too expensive, but this upgrade seems to do a fair amount of damage for the points. Just wondering if you think it's
    A. too expensive
    B. It works
    C. No idea, but sounds interesting

I thought it was too expensive at first on paper... but then I used one (actually 3).

Yeah, it was worth getting the 4 no-sight-needed shots for 30 pts (plus an upgraded BS). If you do the mathhammer, I think it's worth it, but just barely, but if you do take the SMS you absolutely need the TA as well.

I would definitely use that, sounds like a good deal.

I think the problem is if you take 3 DF its 90+ points and that means compromising on some other part of the list and 90points means a big compromise somewhere.
I think most lists can do wothout the extra shots and I for one could not afford to lose 90 points even from my 2000pts list as it stands.

personally, i don't use devilfish as transports, and when i do need them (compulsary with Pathfinders...) they seem to stand around doing nothing, or they die.

it gives them a whole new dimension, changing a barely useful (for me) model into a good model for a mere ~30pts. i'll have to try this.

It does sound interesting. Only thing I might add are flechette discharges. With more firepower coming from the newly equiped 'fish, comes more attention from the enemy and they might get assaulted more often.

I take 'smart' fishes for pathfinder squads.

Scout rule - 0th Turn - 12'' movement close to enemy.
1st turn, either move another few more inches, then you have the 24'' behind cover shots of sms. if you want.

I'd say its a nice deal. markerlight them too? Its an assault tank. Pair this up with Hheads then you got some awesome tanking.

I always take a smartfish and have to say that I always find them worthwhile. Often my opponent is torn between taking it out as a threat, or trying to ignore it in order to kill scoring units. Either way, the additional shots provided by the sms are a godsend and only makes an already useful unit even better.
