    Special Characters

    I was looking in the back of the book and found the rather cheep but good special characters. I was wondering if anyone uses them and if so how do you build him? Because the local gameing store that I go to doesn't have any of the Ork's special characters other thanWarlord Ghazghkull.

    The 2 special characters that im looking at areBoss Zagstruk and Wazzdakka Gutzmek. Both specialise in speed. Which is why I like them.

    So what do any of you guys use any of these special characters or do you think they are not wourth the points?

    Not sure about Wazzdakka, to be honest. There's always the risk of him shooting off the board, which would be a big pain.

    Zagstrukk, however, is a brilliant special character.

    Conversion wise, it might be an idea to just get the Stormboy Nob, and kustom build a really big Jet Pack for him, maybe out of an Imperial Hunter-Killer missile.

    I think that would look suitably Orky...

    I saw a conversion a while back that had a stormboy nob with an upside down SM dread power plant as a jet pack, looked pretty cool. That'd make a good looking Zagstruck.

    I don't have any stormboyz myself cause they're so expensive (money wise), but 20 orks that move 12" and assault 12" and hit at S4 on the charge is certainly appealing.

    They hit on str.3 dude. Only if they are joined by zagstruck do they hit on str.4 (turbo-charge or whatever it's called).

    The only Scecial Characters that GW actually makes for orks and Gaskull and Mad Doc Grotsnik. For the rest, you'll have to make your own. This wasn't especially uncommon in some older codexes.

    Ok so I take it that Gutzmek is not really worth it. But Zagstruk is. Thanks for the converson ideas.

    zagstruk is quite cool (and cheap) rather strong as well, and wazzdakka has big guns.

    i particularly like the chant on the side of zagstruk's page about him and the vulchas, an instant ork classic.

    Zagstrukk and a unit of 20 boys can really hold their own vs anything in the game. Don't worry about the Doom Dive side affect of losing a boy here or there because they still get their attacks in. Remember a huge mob of 20 will always waagh and strike at I4, Zagstrukk at I6. I've thrown them against marines, orks, eldar, and nids and they always come out on top. Once the mob drops below 10 though your in trouble and you really need to break the opponent in 1 turn.
