Hi guys, I finally got around to assembling my Monolith and that m@!#$%! is the hardest model to assemble I have ever seen! I am presently dryfitting pieces and its total hell!
Anyone has any tips on how to make assembly easier?
Also, my intention is to prime the inner sides of all the parts first, then assemble, then prime the outside of a finished structure. Do you think it is sensible or should i completely prime all the pieces before assembly?
Why prime the inside?
Nobody will see it and it will only get in the way of any glue you're using. Only need to prime the visible parts. I also suggest rubber bands when you glue the 4 sides of the monolith. They usually curve outwards and need to be held in place until the glue sets.
I hate the crystal the Monolith comes with. Either paint it or replace it with a cheap, store bought crystal.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Can't you just stick it in after painting the Monolith?
Hmm so I guess superglue is out of the question since it sets too fast and I wont be able to adjust all the sides correctly. And you are right Cbrate, my walls do curve outwards, I did not mention it but its one of major problems for me...
You don't need to glue the crystal, it will sit in nicely without it.
Also, you may find that the two parts of the crystal don't need glueing together, it may slot in tightly on its own (mine does).
I managed to build mine fine, on my own, even though i put the top bit on the wrong way, so it's kind of lopsided. Leave the crystals out until you've built and primed it. And against a black prime, it's best to paint the backs/insides of the crystals with a flourescent green/yellow type paint- several coats.

never glue the crystal its pointless it sits perfectly, im totaly with outsider there, i didn't like the crystal myself so for one monolith i used a fine sand paper and ruffed it up evenly it looked great the second one i scored it lightly with the sand paper and aplied a thin layer of flouresnt green paint, it worked great too IMO.
In the name of god impure souls of the living dead shal be banished into eturnal damnation. Amen.
What I meant when I was ranting about superglue is that superglue is out of question for the assembly of the walls of the monolith since you have to adjust their position as its being glued together...I do not worry about crystal for the moment
I put together my friend's because he couldn't either -- try glue activator, stuff called Zip Kicker is available from most hobby stores... apply glue, put the side on, adjust it, hold with one hand and spray the activator with the other.
