Well boyz I just used a Big Mek armed with a burna and choppa against the Tau. I must say I am very impressed. I normally use a power klaw and choppa on my HQ boss. I feel that the burna is working better for me, at better point cost.
What bothers me is that Warboss's can't take burnas, why is that.
For a Big Mek, what would you rather take: Burna or Power Klaw and Choppa?
I used my 1st Burna last night with some success, but with Orks 1 is never enough for good success. So next game I play I'm gonna try a similiar thing to what you had there. Gonna go with a Big Mek with a Burna and Choppa, then grab a Trukk for him and get a force of 9 Burna Boyz to team him up with. Gonna have 4 Burnas and a Mekboy in there, just can't decide if I should give the Mekboy a Burna to give me 6 total, or just go with the KFF on him, prob will go with the KFF.
it depends on the army im playing against. I like burnas against squishy armies like ig or tau but i prefer pk for sm and necrons. also one of the standard warboss models comes with a shoota /skorcha which works great.
No reason to use burna and choppa. Just give him a slugga instead of choppa.

I see what you mean about using a burna against squishy (Tau, Imperial Guard, Dark Eldar and Eldar) verses hard (Space Marines, Choas and Necron) armies. How well do they work against the Tyranids?
Thanks for the choppa advice. I will be replacing the choppa with a slugga.
I normally do that aswell, but if I have the point(s) to spare I'll toss the Choppa onto my Burna Boyz. Main reason is that if you use the Burna in the shooting phase you can't use it in the assualt phase aswell. So with the Choppa I atleast get the 4+ save limit on a turn I used the Burna in the Shooting phase.Originally Posted by Bruiser117
So if you're strapped for points then give them a Slugga, but if you have a point or two lying around I'd go with the Choppa.
The skorcha combo has a str. 5 instead of the normal 4 the burna has, although you only get to fire it once.
Do you guys have any idea on how to convert a burna? Converting a big shoota is easy enough, just cutting off the barrel and adding it the gun with the ammo clip coming out. but what can we use to make the burna?

Your best bet is probablly something like bwbits.com, lots of bits there for relatively cheap. They have plenty of flame type guns from other armies that could be used and converted on Orks...
For burnas I've combinations between the cadian flamer (usually doubled up side by side) and a shoota flamer mix. If you have a friend who plays any of the imperium armies (though IG is best) Try to get some flamer bits of them, since more often than not they have piles of unused flamers.
