Welcome to Librarium Online!
Has anyone heard if GW is ever going to update the computer army list builder they make to include the new Tyranid codex? I have emailed them a few times to no avail. It is very annoying to have spent $30 on this program and it does not work for the new list.
Thanks for any information
Nevermind, search is your friend, looks like nothing will ever be updated for it anytime soon.

i would not advise buying any army builders now due to gamesworkshops policy of releasing updated codexs every couple of months. Basically you would be paying money for some thing that would be out of date within about 6 months of purchase.

The stupid thing about this is, the amount of effort it would take to update this program is ridiculously small. Seriously, depending on how user-friendly the program is to make it some guy could do the basic mechanics of it over a couple nights.
GW's "army builder" was their typical half-assed attempt to compete with the real Army Builder by Wolf Lair. As with 99% of the stuff that GW puts out, they support it for a very short time period and then they drop it like a hot potato. I don't know why I have always only heard bad things about Wolf Lair's Army Builder; it's not perfect, but the current version with the newest update is pretty much spot on. With it I have literally created every possible variant of every army in 40k. The only army I had problems with configuring were the Last Chancers, simply due to that you can give them just about anything.
The only thing is that AB has a slight sharp learning curve. For instance, if you put together a Hive Tyrant with a Venom Cannon and then decide to up his Strength after you select the VC, the VC will be highlighted in red until you deselect the VC and reselect it. AB is very good about telling you where you violated the rules, which comes in handy when dealing with adding up the points on your Chaos Daemon Prince.
What's great about AB is that it works for just about every game system out there and is updated when every codex comes out or is updated.
What sucks is that a year after the Tyranid codex came out and we still don't have an updated FAQ; let alone the other FAQ's that desperately need updating.

I mistakenly bought the EOI CD without checking on LO, could have saved me $30. I think if there is a way to get a online petition going, we could get GW to do something. The Chaos and Tau are outdated, but for the Nid's EOI is really old, the biomorps listed aren't all in the new Codex, there isn't a Broodlord, the points cost for the Tryrant is wrong, the list goes on and on.
GW needs to support their loyal customers better, and I think the good folks here at LO can do something about their crappy product.
sorry about multiplue posts, the reply didn't seem to work

sorry again about multi posts, i don't know how to delete these
Sigh. I own both EOI and AOI. I wish I'd had known that they don't support the new codexes either. I've also mailed them to no avail. Army Builder is fantastic though.
Army Builder is definitely the way to go since you can't really rely on GW to ever update their products, just look at how long it took them to come out with hald-assed FAQs!
