Yesterday I played a CoD game against an orc player who used the Sewer Rats Strategem. He brought practically his whole army up through the sewers which just doesn't seem right. Can someone quickly tell me what Orc units can and can't be used with this straregem?
The way i understand it, only 1 unit can benefit from a stratagem.
I just did a checkup in the CoD book. It's 1 unit per turn, and it has to be one of the reserves.
What Orks, can, and cannot be, deployed this way... I don't know, I don't play Orks.
It is fully legal for him to pop up hordes of boyz out of the sewers, as long as he rolls reserves rolls for the lot and only has one infantry unit coming out of one sewer marker a turn. As far as I can tell, this counts for jump troops as well, since they are, in fact, infantry. So yes, you can send boyz (including stromboyz) through the sewers, the only thing that can't use that stratagem are vehicles really.

yea ive used it beofre, but my friend ended up just using rhinos within 1 inch of the sewer so some of my army couldnt come out..grr! Another time i was using it and 3 (yes 3) guardsman were sitting on the sewer so apparently 20 raging boyz cant come out of it because they are within an inch
“Krump first, assk qweztions neva'!"- 3000 Orks
Dark Eldar- 1500 1/0/0
"the very gods for vengeance cry”- 3000 Dwarves
Yup totally legal move, to do as many infantry units for the one strategem. As everyone has said, only 1 unit per marker in a turn. If there are only 3 markers on the table but 4 units made the reserve roll this turn, only 3 units get to come out, the other one stays in reserves.
My Ork opponent used it too, but thankfully only his shoota boyz were using it, not the assauling boyz. Just remember, they can't move or assault when they come out of it. Just like deepstriking. So even though that is scary seeing all those Orks pop out all over the board (which just fits them perfectly) there is a defence. Fire everything you have at the boyz when they jump out. If you have stuff that can pin them(difficult on orks) let it rip. Make them charge you in the buildings.
The hard thing about fighting Orks in CoD is that dang 4+ cover saves. Drove me crazy seeing orks get a save against my bolters.

Well tachnicly you can move, but basicly only in a radius around the hole, it would be near impossible for any large unit to actually fir around a sewer grate. Take my 28 grtos that popped out as a diversion, If I wasn't allowed to move them up to 6 inches from the hole they never would have made it out. So technicly coming out of the hole is their move, as such, they count as moving for all shooting purposes.Originally Posted by DarkAngelVA
