Welcome to Librarium Online!
I Actually have a friend who play Speed Freak... is it me or i think this army is pretty unbalanced ? I know that orks are really not good at shooting but im melee they kinda own everything they see for a low cost(too low). That's how i see Orks ! a bloody mass army who zerg your ass because while you have less then 100 unit your opponent have more then 150...
But the ''Speed Freaks'' are kinda not balanced, the only big problems of the orks are that they are slow(but own in melee) / low save(still own in melee) and no shoot(but still own in melee), the speed freak just have the ability to counter those 3 problems at once... you can get in melee faster without getting shooted and without shooting... thats stupid, whenever my friend use this army he kick everyone's ass, i think he loosed once because we were playing a 4player FFA in CoD and me and my 2 friends decided to put tank walls so he could get out of his spawn...
I'm right now complaining about this stupid army because its overpower and because it completly kill what an ork should be !
Now tell us what you play so we can complain about the cheese of your army.
Speed freeks can be quite good yes, but they are no so overpowered that nothing can beat them. I've seen speed freaks get utterly molested by guardsmen as the trukks get shot to pieces by heavy weapons and the boyz feel the wrath of heavy fire and pie templates as they try to find which way to go. Likewise, while the Freeks are fast, thay lack the raw number of boyz a footslogger army has. So while they gun it up the field, their vehicles are so fragile that even bolters can tear them a new one. Don't go crying cheese just because one person consistantly beats you.
As for the fluff, Speed freeks are actually quite fluffy. You see orks as just a horde of rushing boyz, however, orks also have an incredible love of going fast, and what better at it that their vehicles. Go and read some ork fluff, if anything the trukkers seem to be more fluffy as they roar across planets.
Orks are nowhere near as tough as you seem to think, and I've been blown to pieces a fair number of times playing them. They are quite good in CC, but any other CC speacialist worth its salt can beat them down easily enough. Try new tactics and methods against them, eventually you'll find a decent tactic and then the tables will turn.

I don't say it's cheesy, for me cheesy is 9 Obli and full firepower possible in an Iron Warrior army, thats cheesy, i just say they are overpowered because theres one of the rare army that can cancel most of their problem ''easily''. but yes i think i lil Nerf would be good, increase cost for trucks and buggy or for units i dont know.
ps. I play Thousand Sons. and i know very well how to play my army.
Thousand Sons.. and you call Speed Freaks cheese.. please man.. You have a +3 save and TWO wounds.. while we have a +6 save and AV10 all around. Why dont you just bolt of change the trukks and buggies, your glancing on a three come on man.. speed freaks usually have harldy any boyz also. Use some cover for your sons if your getting insta killed by rokkits (thast how i beat 1000 sons at least) Dont complain about orks, they are not overpowered. Just use a dread with demonic mutation and you should be able to krump squads of 10 boyz... (O no boss a posessed 1k sons dread!.. wait isnt the point of 1k sons that they are mindless automail.. no, shutup..) Thats unfluffy not friken speed freaks so read some fluff before you say anything
“Krump first, assk qweztions neva'!"- 3000 Orks
Dark Eldar- 1500 1/0/0
"the very gods for vengeance cry”- 3000 Dwarves
Morkai hit it on the nose. Because a trukk's maximum capacity is 10, you see much smaller squads. Add in the cost of transports and the viability of the most expensive command squad (tricked out boss, mega armored nobs, meks, and doks) and you will face far fewer troops.
That said, I do think that Speed Freeks are the pentultimate ork army, and I have seen them perform stunningly. Case in point: my Freek brother has crumped every single person at the GC we used to go to with a very simple formula: hard hitting HQ, burna boyz, 'ard boyz, a few rokkit buggies, and mostly trukk boyz.
However, after seeing him slaughter everyone, I returned the favor to him with a tactic that he agrees is great against Freeks: your standard anti-horde army, meaning lots of heavy bolters (or their equivelant) with the addition of a few autocannons.
Their strengths are really three fold: first, they move fast. This means you can assault faster, claim objectives better, run from nasty people, and basically be were it's best for you. Second, is the element of suprise: nobody expects orks to shoot well. It's a basic given, reinforced by every story movie and image avaliable. However, many Freek vessels are twin-linked (battlewagons and buggies come to mind) Every orks has access to these, but Freeks take much more than normal orks. Lastly, is they have open topped vehicles. Back in 3rd Ed, this was bad. They blew up easy. Now, they still blow up easy (and entaglement makes it worse), but they assault after deploying, taking away that one round of double tapping. This compensates for small squad size.
However, Thousand Sons are probably the worst people to face Freeks with. You don't have infantry carried heavy bolters, and too few bolts of change to effectively fight armored lists, 24" is much too close to try and stop a horde of fast vehicles, and your sons are too slow to last the charge.
My advice: try facing his freeks with orks. This is pure theoryhammer, but I think that masses of boyz could absorb the charge from 10 man squads (even ork squads) and in subsequent rounds bring them down with greater numbers. Of course, the natural theoryhammer counter is templates (burna boyz/scorcha buggies) and concentrated big shoota buggie fire. The counter-counter to which is your own buggies.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: Are you wounded?
Clouseau: No. Fortunately I was saved by the darkness.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: So what we need is more light.
If you want advice on how to beat those Speed Freaks ask for it.I'm right now complaining about this stupid army because its overpower and because it completly kill what an ork should be !
But as this thread seems to be complaining at the moment, I'm going to close it. PM me if you have a problem, or if you want to talk about it, I have no problems.
