how many of your units who you can deepstrike do you actually bother to do it with
personally i normally deepstrike at least half of my crisis suits and ocasionally some of my gun drones but I always infiltrate my stealth suits
recently deep striking has been going very badly (except for basilisk hunting where it works well), it seems to random on whether they turn up and they can't use their assault move so if they scatter badly you can't run from it

Yeah, deepstriking is good unless your going against Nids then your just stupid to deepstrike. If think your right it's better to just infiltrate with stealth instead of DS though also reflects the fluff better. I don't usually deepstrike if I do maybe a crisis team and I'm yet to use gun drone squads.

I only deepstrike my crisis suits with shas'o, waiting for the enemy to advance forward, then deepstrike behind them and blastt the crap through em, hasn't failed me yet
well I always infiltrate with my stealth team to around 24 to 30 inches in front of the enemy army that way I can get to 18 fire then move back to 24 inches. Then when they fire they have to roll to see. Unless your stealth is outnumbered by like 2 or 3 units to it or the enemy has guys that can move more then 12 inches then it works really good. You inflict lots of injusry and keep retreating while they usually fire there tanks at the stealth and you take the tanks out with broadsides. Tau have a long range and when you have stealth blowing holes in you, you tend to forget to often until it is to late. They make excellent lures. If only they had some heavier weapons like the fusion blaster it would help take on tanks.
Hey I dont know the infiltrate rules (yes I am part noob and part player). I gotta see me my rulebook.
nothing works better than 6 stealth suits, firing 18 shots into an imperial guard line.
I dun bother deep stiking stealth they can shoot after infiltration anyway so whats the point
Yes stealth suits are the *****. As for deep striking Ive found that it is a two edged sword. I used to play marines and would generally try to deep strike as much as possible while I was a n00b, mainly because I thought the idea of my bad ass, storm trooper marines screaming in from the sky and pourng out of their drop ship to be soo cool that I didn't need to think before I acted. However, now after several bad losses I stoped using it. I can see a good way to use it, i.e. like someone said to hunt the nasty ass heavy weapons. But I find that my long range heavy str, low ap weapons tend to desicmate their hvy weps just as fast. Also since most of our mobile units move 12" as is (6' in movement, and 6' in assult) it does not take long to cross the distance to fire our searing beams of death at the enemy.
Deepstriking can be very instrumental in battles. I have won several games by just deepstriking my crisis suits and gun drones...my friend hates it so much that he wants the rules banned, so I don't use them. Anyway he is never going to learn, by just calling it out as a cheat rule...ahem...anyway, he plays as Imp. Guard, and all those guardsman got slaughtered by the mass amount of fire power. I even destroyed his Armored company totally by deepstriking in good positions, so I never had to worry about that nasty basilisk. If a mass amount of units deepstrike, they will have support...if not they will have to hold their ground until the reinforcements can rush to help. Usually I like to deepstrike my suits forward, cause damage and retreat to my firewarrior walls. After destroying key enemies, I force the opponent to walk into immense amounts of fire due to his loss of points. I really like this mixture of the patient hunter/killing blow technique. Killing off entire squads is a really good idea, unless they run away first from scary plasma technology!
I like Deep Striking my Crisis Suits, my Shas'o and Shas'vre with a hoarde of gun drones. It's particularly affective against Imp Guard (I hate mortars). Next Crisis Suit I buy, I'm going to put TL Burst Cannons on it I think. Then I need to make a tank hunter squad.
