Welcome to Librarium Online!
in general ( because i know there will be instances in which both will be useful) when given the choice, do you field a larger number of smaller necron warrior squads, or a smaller number of large warrior squads? and why?
1) More targets. You can target more units at the same time.
2) More targets to shoot. The enemy cant completely wipe out 20 warriors with one squad.
3) More maneuvarble(sp?). A 20 warrior squad count not fit into a small ruin whereas a 10 warrior squad may be able to.
1) Numbers. They are easier to completely destroy.
2) Teleporting. It is better to teleport 20 warriors through the Monolith than 10 at a time.
3) Res Orb. It would be harder to use a Res Orb on 3 units of ten than of 2 units of 20 and 10.
Exactly the same but revesed ^_^
Remember, if somebody helps you out give them a cookie! Click the star button at the bottom of thier post. Rep Cookies taste gooooood :D
Its also (if you want to rules lawyer) near impossible to get more than 10 warriors within 2" of a monolith's portal, so the excess models have nowhere to go.
Personally I like squads at 10-12 strong, I know its not more than the minimum size but when you have 3 or 4 squads like that you have plenty of bodies and plenty of options.
You also suffer less if close combat goes horribly wrong.
Using a squad of 20 with a lord using Veil of Darkness would be nice

thats not true, only if you move the warrior squat first. if you teleport the warriors first before they move, they may deploy outside the 2" of a monolith's portal.

A word of warning. The next time you get a strange unexplained reading on your Flagship's scanner and sensor arrays, don't dismiss it as a glitch or ghost. The Necrons are a real threat now, and they are out there, biding their time, waiting for you!
Here is how i decide.
If i am going to be veiling around attacking high treat targets I Use a full squad of warriors or imortals.
If i am using my lords as support then I would go four squads of ten like this:

And to do that I draw a 2" line that barely touches the farthest warriors base!
Thats why I usually field squads of 12 when I use a monolith!!!
Im sure that in this case if u as the "ruleboys" at gw this rule is amended
In anycase even in tourney play i have never seen it happen that u loose necrons to the two inch rule. And if it happens give the player no sportsmanship points
