Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey all, I'm starting Necrons again aftewr a 2 year break, and have been searching for a way to "Theme" my army. After alot of thinking, and cruising throught the Codex, I have decided to try out a Wraith-themed army, as I have always like the models, and the way they are like ghosts. What I want to know is:
1. Would a Necron Army fielding 9 Wraiths, and other hihgly mobile units like D. Lords and Maybe FOs / Destroyers be competetive?
2. Do you think that it would be sufficiently themed to include 9 Wraiths, and convert the D. Lords to be "WraithLords", and maybe other Wraith-like conversions?
3. Do you have any suggestions for such an army?
Thanks in advance for all your help,
I regularly use 9 wraiths with a d-lord in my higher (1500+) point lists. They are a fantastic (but expensive) group. With FO infiltrating to scare the enemy, wasting a turn or so of shooting at them letting the wraiths get a charge. The wraiths should always be in combat by the 2nd turn. Turbo-boost 24 first turn behind some LOS blocking terrain, and next turn phase through and charge any squad. My wraiths have taken down everything from 3 wraithlords with an avatar to a two chaplain with death company retinue (with some help with Heavy D's)
Awesome. Thing is, between my two D. Lords, 9 Wriaths, and essential 20 Warriors I only have 400 Points left! Right now I'm investing in Immortals for some seriosuly needed fire power, but I suppose I could drop a D. Lord and some Immortals for some FO's. Thanks.
EDIT: Here's a list I came up with:
List removed - here;s a link to the army list section version: You WILL click.

Sounds good and all, but WHERE IS YOUR RES. ORB!? :w00t:
Wraiths die pretty quick, and despite the inv. save, they can still have their WBB denied. You are definitely going to want to increase those 9 wraiths' chances of getting back up as much as you can!
That said, your list does indeed look good  If you are going to use the FO as ZombieKiller suggested, though, I'd take just the one squad and use the points for that other Wraith-Lord. Another Warscythe is quite a bit better than a bunch of scary marines with CC weapons. Especially if those FOs' primary purpose is to draw fire
Hmmm... I guess another D. Lord would be good, however, I don't think I will be able to keep the lat Wraith sqaud within 6" to get the Res Orb. Any suggestions on how to remedy this?
what about this list:
necron lord 210
necron lord 180
-gaze of flame
2x 10 flayed ones 360
1x 10 warriors 180
1x 11 warriors 198
3x 3 wraiths 369
phase out: 13
A word of warning. The next time you get a strange unexplained reading on your Flagship's scanner and sensor arrays, don't dismiss it as a glitch or ghost. The Necrons are a real threat now, and they are out there, biding their time, waiting for you!
Hmmm... looks like an Okay list, I might use it. My only fear is that I wo'n have enough fire power to wear down any seriosu threats to my Wraiths or Flayed Ones. Thanks!
how can you give a lord 210 points? it can only have 100 pts of wargear.Originally Posted by Tdh6002

If you drop your Staff of Light in favor of a Warscythe it doesn't count towards your gear point costs. So you can have 210 points in a lord.
This is what I would run in 1500 points.
Lord-destroyer body, phase shifter, res orb, warscythe 210
Lord-res orb 140
Flayed Ones-x7 126
The flayed ones try to infiltrate close to the enemy (behind some los blocking cover if they can). The flayed ones want to try and assault something juicy... a devastator squad, or some other heavy weapon toting squad because most cases the sergeant doesn't have a powerweapon/fist.
The d lord and wraiths turbo-boost first turn behind some los blocking terrain (hide them behind terrain on your deployment move so your opponent cannot shoot them, since they ignore terrain).
Immortals/warriors/footlord march up the field taking out whatever they need to.
