just curioius cuz i was talking with someone and they said i should just gear it to one or the other
I think if you are going to give it a venom cannon you should give it a second shooting weapon (devourers are great). First you are like to be using it to shoot vehicles and you might as well get 6 more Twin linked strength 5 shots. It really makes it a terror when shooting at squadrons of speeders. The real reason I dont like mixing the venom cannon with scyths is that you are typically going to use the tyrant to take down vehicles, it should be well behind your assault force as it is slow, and one to three more attacks towards at the end of the game is probably not going to be worth as much as the extra 18 shots you will get in the first three rounds.
another question..is there any other way to make an assault tyrant without wings. I'm not talented enough at the moment to make the wings and i don't want to mess this model up. Later on though i will buy a second tyrant to try and make wings. Oh and if i give him dual weapons can he shoot both a turn?
Nasty me: Check the rule book under the monsterous creatures entry. You don't have a rule book? Get on!Originally Posted by IronFather0
Nice me: Yes, he can indeed.

Something else you should be aware of is the Hive tyrant can fire two weapons but this doesn't include warpblast. I am going to make a Hive tyrant on foot and I was planning to have scything talons plus a venom cannon and give it warpblast as a psychic power. This was so I would be able to shoot with two weapons and get the extra attack. However warpblast doesn't allow any other ranged bio-weapons to be used.Originally Posted by Karmoon
It probably is possible to have a assault focused Hive tyrant on foot. There are plenty of Carnifexes that are assault focused and the Hive tyrant would be no slower than they are. Tyrant guard would probably work well with it too, making it very tough. If you are lucky the opponent will see it has no guns and ignore it until it's too late. A Hive tyrant plus Tyrant guard in an assault would be very nasty.
Although many people don't like this combo of scythe and venom cannon, this is how my Tyrant is kitted out and was the first model in my army so he's been around a while.
This army has won quite a few tournaments and is very consistent.
From past experience the talon and venom combo has been good. Especially as a basic Tyrant is good at close combat anyway and it gives you some accurate shooting capability, which is more consistent than a Fex's.
Note: I also use a tyrant guard which makes for an even better unit in close combat. Yes, its expensve, but boy is it tough!
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
I would not advise using both, one or the other depending on what you need for your army.
Also I use a barbed strangler and venom cannon or the twin linked devourers (12 attacks re roll misses and roll to wounds) those both work very well against a army with a lot of troops.
