Welcome to Librarium Online!
Okay, more people than I anticipated ended up showing up for the scenario that day. Five people each had 300 points with no restrictions.
Here is an explanation of the scenario:
(Some pictures will be shown directly, others only linked to so I don't break your eyeballs!
Here was the playing field: (We aren't done yet, putting sand on this week and the bunkers aren't anywhere near finished, but still fun to play on)
Here I am, explaining the rules!
The Imperial Guard, Tau, Eldar and Space Marines have all decided to cooperate to scour the planet for this new Tyranid threat. Here they are, moving into the wiped-out Sm outpost.
I begin to line up the Tyarnid threats in between the bunkers:
(I decided that, since the game was just for fun, the Tyranid would not be that smart ie. Wouldn't attack the canister holder, woulnd't remove casualties from the back line, etc. I wanted to have them act more like they would in a movie)
The second Space-Marine Player brought an assasin, here he is setting up one of the Carnifexe's in his sights.
Here's a basic synopsis of the battle:
Turn one highlights: The Hive Tyrant fires a barbed strangler and pins the Imperial Guard regimen nearby.
The HT is in turn rushed by the assault marines and horribly slain.
The Hormagaunts begin to spew forth from the "gene pool" as the Termagaunts rush forward.
The Eldar bikes severely wound the closest carnifex with help from the assasin hiding nearby.
The Space Marines tank lines up to give the spinegaunts a taste of its auto-cannon.
(I have begun to smoke heavily.)
As a result of the first turn, the SM assault squad is left out in the open:
And they are horribly slain by the might of the two Carny's on turn two.
Yes, those are SM models hanging off of the claws and tusks there:
Turn 3 Highlights:
The decoy vampire-nid is discovered and kills a space marine before being eradicated.
The Spinegaunts engage the Imperial Guard:
Another swarm of Hormagaunts emerge and are shot to hell once again! But, I am out of hormey's so genestealers are coming out of the "gene pool" next!
...with a little help from their sneaky friend!
...and then the other Fex does THIS:
Yeah, you're next!
Turn 4 Highlights:
More carnage, this time the Eldar suffer!
The remaining Spinegaunts (That's Miami Vice there, my special Spine-model...yes I was bored!) face a second charge.
Meanwhile, the voidhawk is racing up the back to hastily deliver the canister, two more bunkers are searched and another Carnifex is slain, this time by the Tau....er maybe the IG...I can't remember this point because I was starting to get drunk.
"Uhh...I think we killed it."
Here's what Turn Five looks like at the start, the spinefists have fallen back.
Oh yeah, and some genestealers have come out of the pool and are foolishly trying to destroy tanks but I kept not making any Rending rolls. Booo--urns.
The Eldar's last unit almost gets taken out by the latest swarm of genestealers, he better get that canister to the pool and fast.
And Finally, on the Seventh turn, the final bunker is searched and the never before seen Vampire-nid makes it's appearance on the battle field.
None of them had seen it yet and I pulled it out of a box. Here are some "reaction" shots to the Vampire:
here are the Eldar finally blowing up the "gene pool" and stopping the onslaught of turn-by-turn genestealers.
Ahhh, good times. Unfortunately, despite this catastrophic unveiling, I was too wasted on PILSNER to think properly and instead of doing the smart thing and regenerating some wounds of the nearby IG troops (Up to 8 wounds) I foolishly rush the thing at the nearest SM tank and then die on the final round to the wussiest of all guns, the lasguns and the Vampire is taken down by what their IG player affectionately calls "flashlights."
Here are the MVP's of the game posing for their picture:
And finally, here we are; the half-drunk victor and the completely-smashed (I drank like seven beer because of excitement) vanquished five minutes before our girlfriends start yelling at us to join the backyard party outside. Yes we have those.
Strengths of this scenario:
A hell of a lot of fun.
Easy to explain.
Many people can play and don't have to wait long for their turn.
The Downsides of this scenario:
If you are stupid and drunk the unveiling of the new model can be a little anti-climactic.
Not playing it drunk next time would have been a good idea for me.
Damn you Pilsner!

Nicely done. I find it amusing that it should be a las gun the slays the mighty monster.
All guard player should take heart in this.

Wow this was pretty interesting scenario indeed. A lot of the models were converted very well IMO (even saw a girl with the IG :ninja: ). I thought it turned out nicely how the guardsmen killed the mighty Vampire nid .
Is it me or does any other necron player get annoyed when they see people saying "Necrons eat souls". How is that even possible as souls are part of the warp and necrons want nothing to do with it? Eh probaly me just me being picky.

This was an amazing post... I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I especially liked the reaction shots.
You shoud bring the vampire back from the grave somehow, and this time remember to attack the smushy things not the tanks. It's a sweet conversion.
Keep up the good work. :ninja:

Thanks for the feedback. Yes the vampire-nid will be resurrected in some fashion, though in what way I am not quite yet sure.
Cool! That was loads of fun to read. Looks like your Vampire-nid scenario has worked out well. Some nice looking models too. I am in particular curious about the Hive tyrant with the wings and the marine who seems to have skeleton legs.
That SM player has an "army of darkness" type Blood Angels army. His Death company is all zombies and he also has werewolf scouts and his assault squads and tactical squads are all skeletons.
My WInged HIve Tyrant is something to behold, I'll post a pic later which shows his two-sets of wings much more clearly
