Keep in mind this is for all minis, not just the big boys. Put in your comments if you have expections to your usual allowances based on models.
I've had a limited number of experience in anything other then friendly games, and i'm getting ready to go to my first GW store night, so i'd like to know if most people would jump down my throat for not accurately modeling my biomorphs.
Of specific interest is EC, since i've been having a hell of a time figuring out how i want to handle it on the Warriors and the Carnifex i usually take it on (keeping in mind i'm trying not to have to repaint them, and rather glue pieces on after the fact)

I'd say all of them need to be modeled on. But Leaping could be represented by your models being on rocks or jumping.
"They say the Darkness consumes you. They don't say what happens after It's done."
I think in general if a Tyranid is going to have a biomorph it should be represented in some way. There are excetions as to how it should be done though. As already stated by seth the dark, leaping can be done in a variety of ways. I think to show leaping all that is needed is an impression that the Tyranid has a new, faster and or unusual way of moving.
I thought about doing flesh hooks as big sticky suckers once which are essentially the same thing. Toxic miasma could be show just by unusual paint work and the Zoanthrope which has toxic miasma as one of or I think it's only biomorph has nothing specific on the model to show toxic miasma. Bio plasma could also be represented by painting green/blue banding, or whatever colour bio plasma is, onto the throat of a Tyranid.
The thing about that is that leaping is not exactly a biomorph, its an ability. Why would you need to model leaping? Its the same with scuttlers.Originally Posted by Seth the Dark
I couldn't figure out if a CC 'Fex or a Shooting 'Fex is better. So I got both of them!
I believe that Toxic miasma is very well represented on the Zoanthrope, and on the Hive Tyrant and Carnifex who may have it to.Originally Posted by Leech
Codex: The chimney-like vents sprouting from the backs ect, ect,
If we are working with the third ed Tyranids then yes Toxic miasma is not well represented, But I have the 4th ed Models, and the upgrade is clearly defined be those Chimney like vents on the back of those specific Tyranids.
What did you think they were in the first place?
What did I think the vents were? I read somewhere that they are exaust vents, not particularly toxic miasma. If they were toxic miasma the Hive tyrant and Carnifex would come with that biomorph as standard like the Zoanthrope. But the vents on the back of those Tyranids may be toxic miasma. I have seen people convert the Hive tyrant and Carnifex to have them. Because the Hive tyrant and Carnifex always have those vents toxic miasma or not believed that we may of been required to add an indication of toxic miasma in some way. If we aren't required to do so then that's probably helpful. I know I didn't paint my Zoanthropes to have toxic miasma.Originally Posted by AJ Tyrant
if marines don't have to model frag grenades (at least they don't at the store i go to) then why should we have to model flesh hooks? and if a creature can jump, why does this need to be modeled? i think its really stuff like toxin sacks and adrenal glans that must be modeled

Just stick toxin sacs to chimney stalks
I dont really think that any of them really NEED to be modeled. As i am not a tyranid player i wouldn't know what they are anyway and would rather have u tell me model by model or unit by unit and roughly break down what they do.
I have played against nids before and we did this, i just make mental notes on what each monster can do and plan accordingly. If u play someone who doesn't play nids they arent going to know what that little bump on the plastic is, especially if u aren't the greatest painter in the world.
I mean i understand extended carapace cause well i can see if u glued on extra plastic pieces on a carnifex. Unless u have a cool conversion then i will have no idea what is on the model.
So just explain to your opponent and bring a printed coppy of what i said. I mean it makes sence to anywone with common sence.
Or even give them a writen copy of your list or even just those specific creatures.

well to be technical, you need to model all of them for wysiwyg, so this poll has no real point
