How do i defeat an enemy like necrons in open terrain when i am sure he will take a squad of 3 wraiths c'tan the nightbringer and probaly a high number squad of flayed ones!
How do i overcome this?
I would imagine you will be forced to deal with Scarabs and Wraiths first. Shoot the scarabs with your big guns/missiles/etc. Use your hordes of FWs to shoot the Wraiths, one squad of FW against one squad Wraiths at a time. Force him to make Invul Saves and lots of them. Use your Marker Lights to give your boys better BS.
As far as his Night Bringer goes. If you can stay out of Close Combat with his Wraiths and Scarabs... then just remember that your Pulse Rifle has a str 5 and can wound the NB on a roll of 6. Toss on a few marker lights as you can to give you a better chance to hit. Remeber he only has a 4+ save so he is bound to fail eventually if you lay on enough fire power.
Would kinda need to know exactly what he is taking and if he is going to infiltrate/deep strike with anything... oh and points of the battle(Edit... duh 1500). Then I could tell you what I would do exactly.

Monolith lots of warriors, flayed ones, wraiths, probaly a NB a lord withrez orb and phylactery and maybe a tomb spider.
In this type of situation I'd say go broadsides over hammerheads. The gauss weapons of the necrons can be a pain and they have very little low AP weaponry. They will also provide more Str10 shots to take down that monolith.
As the others have stated, mass Str 5 weaponry will drop the wraiths.
Once the monolith is down, the broadsides should be able to neutralise the NB.
The flayed ones will be a bit of a problem. If you deploy well they cannot physically charge you first turn so you'll have one turn of shooting to drop them. Fire everything you can at them.
Suits fitted out with plamsa and fusion blasters will help a lot with basic necron warriors and the flayed ones.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
I'd jsut like to add that the Nightbringer has an invulnerable save of 4+, just something to keep in mind

If you're going to be playing on a no-terrain style board, go for the longest range weapons you can. Broadsides will wipe out destroyers, tomb spiders, monoliths and c'tan. Pulse rifles are good for forcing saves, and plasma toting crisis are always great. Remember, concentrate on a unit, kill that unit (to prevent WBB rolls) then move on to the next unit. Use pulse fire on Wraiths and scarabs, plasma fire on warriors, immortals and such, and broadsides on the bigger stuff. I would suggest Pathfinder squads with rail rifles for the ap3 weaponry and the pinning bonus, and the Warfish can help keep those pesky scarabs and wraiths from assaulting your base. Good luck.
My gaming group's new motto: That army you're using is overpowered because it hurts my guys, codex is broken and needs a rewrite.
