Welcome to Librarium Online!
i just want to know. are pariahs worth it? they look like great escorts for my nightbringer. with the warscythe thing and all and the leadership thing. i think its pretty good but what do you guys think?
Allow me to be the first to say 'no, they're not'. There will be people who disagree with me, but my feeling is that the general consensus is that without the right opponent, situation, rolls, and tactics, they are far too many points for what they are. Let's compare them to immortals. The gain a couple short-range leadership abilities, 1 Str and a warscythe. They lose WBB, contribution to PO, and manouvrablility (monolith and VoD). So you have a unit which is a bit better in CC (I say only a bit because they still only have 1 attack each, and are less survivable due to no WBB, and inability to be whisked away, but gets to CC slower. for almost the cost of a terminator.
Not worth it, IMO.

Take Immortals instead. Cheaper and they get WBB. NB doesn't need assault help.
I use Pariahs and Immortals alot. Outside my wife totally annihilating either with her Exorcist in a single turn... my Immortals out last my Pariahs nearly every time and get in more kills. Walk, Shoot, Walk, Shoot.
Pariahs are definitely not worth taking. The lack of WBB kills them. Immortals are a much better option.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
They serve different purposes. Pariahs should only be in large armies
Pariahs are a great unit, but i would only take them in games of 2500+ where there is so much else on the field that they dont get shot up straight away. If you can get them into CC they are like termies on steroids. Only problem is they move like termies and cant come back to life with WBB. They cant get the benefits of a VoD or Monolith so they are fair slow. They're great if you can get them to go un-noticed most of the game (hence the larger points) but in smaller games immortals are by the better choice.
