Welcome to Librarium Online!
Yeah, so in my desperate search for way to beat the Tau, i did alot of advanced searches through our Necron Forum history and guess what i found?
NOTHING! NADA! ZIP ZERO! i couldnt find anything on how to beat the Tau with Necrons.
Maybe im just searching wrong... OR MAYBE!!! we the Necron playes have never written an article about it......
Please, please, please don't post threads that are so similar in topic that they could (and should) be covered in the same one... especially when you post them in the same forum.
I'm going to go ahead and leave this one open for people to help you with anti-Tau, and I'm going to close the one about Battlesuits, as it's just as relevant a topic. I'll even go ahead and edit in the post I made for you from that one.
edit: And my post about Battlesuits:Originally Posted by Lost Nemesis

You are either very confused, or the Tau players you play against cheat you.Originally Posted by AlbinoAlien

Take alot of scarabs. In a 1200 point game. Take 20 , use cover to get them up on the Tau and then watch the fun as they assaualt the FWs to death. Its only 240 points to take 20.
I love using Scarabs against Tau... love it love it love it! So much love. I am taking 30 in the next game just to see him hide all his stuff but his vehicles as far back from me as he can.
Then I just march my remaining warriors and whatever else up. Though, I usually support my Scarabs with FOs just to watch him squirm.
Scarabs and destroyers normally work well. A few Flayed Ones can also really cause them problems if they are infiltrated to a good position. The best thing to do against Tau is keep the threat of CC forever on them, so they are forced to move into vulnerable shooting positions just to avoid CC
No offense intended here but you don't really need a whole lot of tactics to beat most Tau players if they don't outclass you as a general by a whole lot. Certain armies have a bit of trouble against certain other armies. Historically, Tau have Trouble against Necrons. Necrons have an abundance of AP4 weaponry (Immortals, Destroyers, the Monolith's Gauss Flux Arc etc.) The Necrons laugh at the high AP weaponry the Tau can field with WBB and can match the manouverability of the Tau with the Veil of Darkness, Monolith Teleportation, Jetbike rules on our fast attacks etc etc. Also, Close Combat, the bane of Necrons, is not something the Tau have in their Arsenal. This is not at all to say that a Necron player cannot be absolutely mauled by a good Tau player, but for the Tau player, it's usually an uphill battle. Cheers.
yeah, this Tau player ha basically figured out a way to uswe his army right against necrons. TOday i played him, and i tried to get the scarab swsarms with d fields to take out his hammerheads ( i only have 1 heavy destroyer) and they kept missing and not getting 6's. he then used lost of devilfish and loads of battlesuits/stealth suits to keep my guys heads low. i dont know what im doing wrong....
he only used 6 FW's, and thats only because they are required (Note this was a 1500 pt game)
Basically your movement is about the same as Tau's. When you verse a good player, sometimes it just comes down to luck. If the Tau player isnt up to scratch he will get owned, but if he knows what he's doing, in the end its probly going to come down to luck of the dice. It would probly have been a different story if your scarabs were able to kill that hammerhead and move onto the next target rather than being destroyed. Better luck next time i guess
