Welcome to Librarium Online!
So my local GW is holding a tournament in a month that my girlfriend and I are participating in. Basically, each of us takes 500 points from our armies to build a thousand point list. It counts as one army, so we don't both have to take an HQ and two troops. She's a nids player, and she's going to be taking mostly CC stuff like 20 hormugants, genestealers, or a carnifex. I know I'm dropping some of those points on a Lord with a Res Orb and a unit of warriors, but then I'm not so sure about what I should do with the rest of my points.
My current thought is to stick a VoD on the Lord, attach him to the warriors, and grab a unit of Destroyers. That way, while she's charging in, I can bounce around the battlefield finding targets and blowing them up but teleporting away before I get assaulted. However, I know not having the two units of warriors puts me at a risk of phasing out...what would you guys reccomend?
destroyers are always good and if you donĀ“t have to take any troops than you can focus on heavy support(destroyers,Immortals) and your girlfriend on the masses

Yes but if he does that he will have an incredibly low phase out. A decked out lord is around 200, 4 destroyers is 200, thats 4/5 of your points already and you only have 5 necron models - Phase Out at 1!!. You dont really get many options in the lower points games, but thats why warriors have gauss weapons. The lack of choice is made up with the power of gauss. I think your best bet is to take 20 warriors (2x10) and a lord with res orb. Sure its pretty basic, but if your gf is taking the CC, just get into rapid fire and shoot the hell out of everythingOriginally Posted by nexus-star
It think that the Tyranids can supply the troops and maybe a CC Fex. You supply the lord with the R.Orb, Vod and 10 Immortals. It also depends on who you are playing against
While that sounds good in theory, 10 immortals and your lord will cost 480pts. That leaves you with only 11 necrons and Phase Out of 3. If you get a bad teleport scatter you could lose your army in the opponents next round. Think about it, in a 1500pt game 1 squad of immortals is expendible ... it does hurt but if you lose them its not the end of the world. Now in this battle, if you teleport and they decide to focus fire on you and then charge everything into you, you've just lost 500pts worth of units. In the turns that follow, the 'Nids player will have nothing shooty and will die before they even reach CC.Originally Posted by sentinel5000
The only real option i see for this is 20warriors and a Lord with Res Orb. Advance everything together allowing the warriors to gauss everything to death. That way the Nids player can take some more nasty stuff and doesnt need to worry about a swarm of termagaunts and what not
If I could go with a 500 points list for something like this... Its a gamble I know... but...
4 Destroyers - fire support
1 Destroyer Lord with Nightmare Shroud/Warscythe - run with the Nid CC
3 Wraiths - run with the Destroyer Lord and Nid
We ran low point 300 games once and I ran with 3 Wraiths and the Destroyer Lord above... was pretty ruthless. I was pretty much able to go where I pleased and hit what I wanted to.
Hmm that could work well i guess, i like it better than lord with immortals lol.
Only problem is if you lose those destroyers its gg necrons I think if you dont take the 20 warriors and lord, you're gonna have to be VERY careful with whatever you do decide to take. It will really leave no room for error, and you're gonna have to make sure you dont leave anything in a vulnerable position
Destroyers have a range of what? 30"? thats plenty of room to avoid any incoming fire. Also, i love the original idea of the oncoming tyranid horde, and the whole necron army voding behind the opposing players and drawing fire. by turn two, the tyranids will be on them, and if you need to you can just vod outta danger.
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
Gauss cannons have a range of 36
Don't forget the 12" movement!
