Welcome to Librarium Online!
are shoota boys worth piking over sluggas?
no point posting 6 threads..
and generally, no, slugga boys are better
well i have to log off in like 10 minutes, and i have to get all these questions out of the way....yea maybe i should've only like posted 2 or something...but whats done is done......thnaks though
i would say that slugga boyz are better.
orks were bred for combat, with BS 2, they cant shoot anything really.
but if you get enough shootas you can do a lot of damage!
when my friend got like 60 shoota boyz, he separated them into squads of like 20 or something, they got into there transports and raced to my flanks, and shot the crap out of my chaos army.
Topic moved since it belongs in the orc section.
Slugga boys because their choppas are simpily amazing. They can rip even tough enemies like termies easily.

It depends on what you like to do...If you like to do more stand back and shoot stuff take shootas.
If your a Goff like me you just want to smash some weedy Panzee or Beakies...then take choppas. For the close in work.
"Da Orks is da best cuz we ar ded ard an killy, mean, green, krumpin machines, hav da most dakka, da stompiest dreads, da shootiest gunz, da biggest bosses, an we uze choppas...WAAAGH!"
Slugga boyz are really great but a lot of people underestimate shoota boyz. Choppas are ONLY good against armored opponents (i.e., those with a 3+ armor save or better), otherwise they offer no added benefit.
Shoota boyz, b/c cost 1 pt less per model AND they have twice the range as sluggas. While orks in general suck at shooting, don't underestimate the powers of probability when it comes to mass volleys: 20 shoota boyz standing and firing will fire 40 shots and on average score: ~13 hits. That's not bad, especially considering the unit only costs 160 pts. Compare than to 10 SM's who firing 20 shots will score about the same # of hits and you can see that shoota boyz aren't that bad. They're also nearly as effective in CC.
So, slugga boyz are great but if you're going up against IG or any other shooty, lightly armored army I would consider adding a shoota boy mob or two.
slugga boys are good but if you don't take some shootas too you'll get clobbered by ranged weapons. A big mob od shootas will not only soften up the enemy before you charge they'll force the other guy to keep some of his units in cover. In other words take a little of both so they can support eachother.
Yeah, plus you can arrange your mobz in waves so that when one breaks it falls back into the next and can mob up.
