I've been thinking of using Kroot Mercenaries as allies for a Dark Eldar list I've been putting together. However, I was wondering if I were to making a WWP army, can I have some Kroot be in the WWP? I was thinking of hiding a bunch of normal kroot carnivores and headhunters in the WWP.
I've been thinking of them as well but I seriously think they would do better starting on the board than in the web.
My idea was using them as a fast attack that starts off infiltrating. This diversion would buy time for the portal deployers to get a good advance and positioning. Putting them in the warp (to me) would be a waste of this special talent since the DE have no infiltrating unit to speak of.
But as rules go I think you can do it.
I have been using Kroot mercs in my Wych cult for the last 6 months. They are amazingly effective. Their real strength is in infiltrating because its one thing we don't have in a DE army. Your opponent can't ignore a unit firing out of the woods into his back ranks and he has to clean them out if he is trying to secure table quarters.
They are cheep points and they provide an amazing diversion unit which draw fire away from my WWP carrier units. I also use them as a troop choice which helps out comp scores giving me 4 troops in my cult.
It is perfectly legal to deploy them out of the WWP. The question is why would you want to if you can infiltrate in a mission? I find that even in missions which don't allow infiltraters, it gives me another unit that I deploy on the board. They tend to draw fire which means less fire going into my WWP squads. Remember, like warriors, kroot are cheap and expendable.
Remember paint them well and with eye catching qualities. You want them to draw fire. Its funny how people will shoot at brightly painted models and ignore more drab colored ones. :shifty:
Alright, thanks. I'm going to use them infiltrating/deployed ON the board instead of in the WWP. Thanks for the advice.
