In a good last night I used the deceiver and after just three turns he kill a land raider, a dreadnought and 2 necron destroyers the game was a every amry for itself and the armies were necrons necrons sister of battle and grey knights. IT was on a smallish table and had a lot of terrian. each army had 800 pts
now I know that the deceiver was a huge points sink, but he owned
HE also pinned a squad of sarephirum sisters on two 5 ya he was so worth taking him why do necron players hate the t'can say that they suck ??

people actually think that the c'tans suck? i've always thought of them as very ass-kicking. and i don't know anyone who has ever said that the c'tan sucks.Originally Posted by necronoob

I doubt you will find a necron player, or any other player for that matter, that thinks a c'tan sucks. They own everything and take ages to kill, but thats how it is with a star god. What you probably read is that c'tans suck in an 800pts game. You're extremely lucky you didnt get phased out. If your enemies were smart they would have ignored your c'tan and gone straight for your 2 warriors squads and that would have been gg for you.
On a side note, can you work on your spelling and punctuation a little? Your post was rather difficult to read
C'Tan don't suck.
but I don't use them at all. I prefer necron lords. But thats just me.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
IN that game I only lost five necron warriors to five scarab swarms becrrause there was only a 10 or 15 line of sight in any fireing line so when things got close enough I just charge the deceiver. also the dreadnought charged me:yes:
People don't say the C'tan suck, per se...
What I do hear a lot is that the C'tan rarely make their points back (no easy task for 300/360 point models). i can see the Deciever being really vicious if you had the right setup to make the most of his "Grand Illusion" ability. Can you imagine a Guard player setting up in what he thinks is safety only to get 10 or so destroyers redeployed in direct LOS to his troops? :shifty:
I haven't personally tried the deciever (no model yet), but the Nightbringer was fun to use when I played him. He's especially good in CoD- moving through the buildings like a wraith.
The real problem with the C'tan, like the whole Necron list, is their range. Neither C'tan has a very long range on any of their abilities (unless you count the Grand Illusion as infinite range).
So no, they don't suck. They're just veeeery tricky.
And can be suprisingly fragile if you're unlucky!!! Last game I played was a COD scenario and the opponent had a Preliminary Bombardment stratagem. Well sure enough, he rolled a 6 on the nightbringer, then a 6 for autowounds... I was kinda sweating a bit! I missed 4 saves, leaving my heavy investment with 1 wound and within charging distance of a flying hive tyrant! First turn, sure enough he charges me, and, luckily for him, wounds THREE times! But the balance of the universe made me save all three, after which I proceded to kill it...
More on topic, I've never used the Deceiver yet, but I can only imagine the possibilities. Especially in COD, they are extremely strong, being able to get around all the terrain without being hindered. Also, most scenarios have units starting closer to the ennemies, enabling the C'tan to get in CC quicker...
Well in my eyes that's cheese (hate that word otherwise) and there no wonder he kicked ass the whole game. Used in bigger battles he's more of a character-hunter that you have to shoot to pieces before he reaches combat. I don't know all his abilities by heart, but what I've seen of them they're very effecitve against IG and other camping armies.Originally Posted by necronoob
well you can call it cheese if you want to but sob had a land raider and the grey knights had a dread nought + uber upgrades
IT wasn't city fight per say but the battle had that heavy of terrian.
the only time i use the deciever is on 4000+ battles where he works together with my pariahs, flayed ones and wraiths as an flanking CC horde, this is something most opponents don´t expect from my necrons who are normaly heavy based on schooting.
But on 800pt he is a BIG risk, he owns the game or he is just a wasted 360pt
