"I move over x inches so you need 6s to hit me!
I have holo fields ha ha!
I'll brightlance your carnifexes big ass!
I win, now lick my boots peasant!" - The Eldar player
There's a very similar thread in the Tyranid forum at the moment, but i thought it would be a good idea to ask what Eldar Players think that the Nid player should do against such a list?
This isn't a thread to discuss cheeziness or brokeness or anything, becuase the fact of the matter is that people take those lists.
But what can be done?
Thanks for your help.

because nids are a combat army, they have very little anti tank fire. venom cannons are ok against eldar vehicles but not great against transports.
if you are playing a meatgrinder style mission, you must concentrate your attacks on one transport at a time. genestealers and raveners and hormagaunts seem to be fast enough to catch eldar transports and you will get a couple of 6s out of that.
other than that, play for objectives and scoring points. eldar mech armies tend to have few scoring units, as transports dont count and a good 2k mech army will sink 350 or more in wave serpants.
Well I personally don't see why mechanised eldar is so bad. For over 200 points you could be facing a falcon... For far less than that you could be facing predators which are far more dangerous to your nids. Why are the eldar so special here?
Wave Serpent's aren't so dangerous as they are transports and you can simply kill whatever jumps out. Falcons are a bit nastier but they don't get the energy field to help against venom cannon and warp blast so you can just deal with them.
you have clearly never ever played a fully tricked out falcon. they are hard as nails to down by shooting. s10 venom cannons have practically the same chance of a lascannon of downing a falcon because of the wargear on it.Originally Posted by LordLink
the problem with a mech eldar list is our skimmers. you talk about predators, which have three heavy weapons - bolter or lascannon. the falcon has a s8 multi shot weapon, a s6 multi shot weapon =and possibly another s6 multi shot weapon. at bs3 its not as dangerous as a pred but far more survivable. if genestealers or ravenors or carnifexes get into combat with a pred (which at the pace some nids move is possible), the pred is screwed. all those attacks will produce rendings.
now, to do a falcon in the same way, the nids must roll a 6 to hit, then a 6 to rend, then possibly another dice to even get a single glancing hit. then that glancing hit has to roll 2d6 and pick the lowest, which is usually between 1 and 3. the eldar player can get moving again on a 4+. falcons are a nightmare for nid players.
Alright against mechanized eldar what you need are ranged attacks. The usual anti vehicle stuff comes to mind but don't forget about those devourer carrying elite carnifexes with that many shots you'll get results and your opponent may either over or underestimate them. And so on for other units.
Also the waveserpents shouldn't be that much of a threat and since your melee troops can get stuck in with their cargo they should probably be your first targets. True their energy shield will spoil bio acid. But otherwise you'll get plenty through the av 12 even if it is reduced in strength.
Something else to remember all those nasty eldar vehicles have a rear armor of 10 and no energy field there (though a falcons holofield will still work). They're vulnerable to all sorts of stuff back there. Also the falcon and wave serpent just have that one hatch on the back. With fast moving troops (like gargoyls) you can often wipe a squad out in the crash.
LOL. No I havent vsed them before. I use 2 of them every game though.Originally Posted by theriddles
A tricked out falcon also cost 50 points more than a predator. It quite often costs as much as a necron monolith. Compare it to that if you will. Still I admit mech eldar has its strengths, thats why I play mech biel-tann. But I dont see how its any worse than fish of fury or drop pod marines.
