I know normally the nobs aren't worth it because of their 6+ save and high points cost but i think I've figured out a way to get them slogged across the board without even losing one greenskin. It would go something like this.....
Choppa/Slugga *maybe a few PKs*
30 attack squigs
So for a little over 400 pts your getting a unit with 50 wounds 40(50 on charge) str 4 attacks 60(90) str 3 attacks and fearless until almost all of your squigs are dead. With the mek with the KFF all of those 50 wounds will be in cover. Obviously this would only work in games around 2k points but seeing as nobody has ever actually tried this setup I'm wondering how bad of an idea it actually is.

it would be very intresting to see if it worked, but it could cost alot depending on what you used. great idea though
That would be interesting...30 attack squigs..ouch. One thing though i thought that only actual Orks counted towards mob size checks. Still it would be awesome.
“Krump first, assk qweztions neva'!"- 3000 Orks
Dark Eldar- 1500 1/0/0
"the very gods for vengeance cry”- 3000 Dwarves
This is basically the same as my Retinue from Hell I built a while ago, but I threw in doks to keep 'em going longer. I proxied it when a marine player claimed his HQ could beat double its points worth of any HQ unit from any army. I made him cry. :shifty:
God and the soldier, we adore
In times of War, and then no more.
For when the war is ended, and all things righted,
God is forgotten and the old soldier slighted.

That is the sickest thing i have ever seen.
Great idea...i might have to try it...
When you combine Speed and Power you get Lightning.
If you do get them into melee, that's potentially an extra 90 S3 attacks on the charge, in addition to all the choppas, powerclaws, syringes and burnas the bodyguard could be armed with!
If you drop a shell on your foot an it don't urt, your shoota aint big enough!
I've tried this before in a friendly game before. Often, my coworkers and I will play games with experimental armies/units just to see it in action.
Mine was a 600+ point HQ. Warboss, 10 Nobs, 2 Mekboys, and 39 squigs. I wanted to see an "unbeatable" Ork HQ unit. It got shot to peices and avoided for the entire match. Problem is your majority toughness of 3 will mean many more rapid fire wounds.....for many rounds. If your opponent decides to let you get into HtH, you'll last forever....or until you kill off the opposing unit. But then it's back to taking tons of wounds as you try to find another willing target.
A smart player rarely gets charged by footslogging orks. Of course with a unit this size, you can get lucky and endure punishment until you do get into HtH.....but it's not worth it in my opinion.
Throw thirty grots in font of them, and make sure there's some KFF's. Shooting problem, somewhat solved.
