I was thinking of using some winged warriors with fleshborer and rending claws and wondered if anybody elsoe uses them in the same config and could tell me if its any good
I'd say go for scything talons instead of guns. My reasoning is you will probably do better with a extra rending attack on every round of CC, intead of firing one or two shots on the way in.
If you give them devourers, it's 4 shots. I do agree that scythes are better though.
Personally I don't like winged warriors because I love my saves. If you really want a gun though, the devourer is probably the best because of the added range and twice the shots.

These figures are based on a toughness of four.

And if you give him carapace instead of wings, he survives 50% of bolter wounds, instead of dying instantly... But he's still incredibly vulnerable to heavy weapons.Originally Posted by WingedGaunt06
Warriors are pretty delicate... I would either carapace him and sit back shoting, or give him wings and dive into a combat.
I like the winged-warrior with sythes and rending. Get him into combat quick, so he can hide from everyone's guns. It's dangerous to go halfway with it, keeping his armour weak but his cc abilities weak too, but his gun is weak also... and then *bam* a freaking bolter takes his head off.

I have absolutely no luck with walking warriors at all. EC or not, they get heavyboltered, gauss cannoned, autocannoned to death before they acheive anything. With an improved BS as good as a guardsman, and guns as expensive as MEQs they're totally useless IMHO.Originally Posted by Abraham Lincoln
As synapse creatures they're too much of a target.. they're expensive if they're to be usefull and then any opponent with a brain will victimise them (after the 'stealers obviously).
Added to this that they're walking which means they're incredibly slow and can't give synapse support to anything apart from carnifexes.
They can't be instakilled sure.. but pretty much every ap4 weapon also has a high rate of fire. Large broods of warriors are really expensive. gimme a zoanthrope any day.
As everyone above states. Winged warriors with rending/scything seems to be the way forward carefull movement, picking your fights, using cover. Added to this that they can support hormies and raveners with synapse too.
I've had a lot of luck taking warriors with Enh Senses and twin-linked deathspitters. Some are just gonna laugh me out the door, but they don't draw much attention until after they have killed a few things with their 24" range Str 5 blast.
Anyone who mocks you without trying it, or mocks you for no reason should take a fire cracker and shove it where it traditionally belongs.Originally Posted by bhood
I'm going to try your suggestion bhood. Thanks a lot.
Hmm doesnt sound too bad though small blast aren't really that great unless your oppenet keeps his troops fairly close (our SW player uses drop pods so this probally would work well against him). Maybe even adding TS to make em str 6 would be nice though maybe to expensive.Originally Posted by bhood
Is it me or does any other necron player get annoyed when they see people saying "Necrons eat souls". How is that even possible as souls are part of the warp and necrons want nothing to do with it? Eh probaly me just me being picky.
