ever since the release of codex Tau Empire I've been wonderin about the presence of the xv22 in the elite section.
Why are they there? Does the suit of an SC need explinaition like that? does there precence mean GW will eventually bring them available for elite choice?
For the last question, I've been trying to create elite rules for that kind of suit. what would you guys think?
Well 1st things 1st, 4 days without LO sheesh, has anyone else had down time on the forum?Originally Posted by Shas'O RenoSaurus
The XV22 is a prototype XV suit it has mass class 2 and the other 2 denotes its prototype and field testing status.
Tau seem to allocate prototypes to elite type or command status troops, possibly because their greater experience makes the evaluation more effective, hence the railrifle testing being done by pathfinders (even though PF are fast attack, PF are usually considered elite troops).
The same applies for the XV22, it is a prototype being evaluated by the Tau and field tested by Commander Shadowsun.
The rules for the a general release suit would follow the rules explained in shadowsuns profile i/e two fusions, stealth field, multi tracker (though I think this would be a wargear upgrade on standard models).
I think if GW were to release them it will be as either Forge world optional models or at the release of the next Tau codex (do not hold your breath on either).
The explanation in the elites section is their solely to justify Shadowsuns unique armour and unique rules (i/e the drones removing her IC status)
