Imperial Guard/Witch Hunters
I'm thinking of making an all grot army using parts from old and new night goblin parts as well as guns from a range of models and possibly Deth Kopta sets.
I'v figured out a range of army lists to represtent a grot army and I'd like to know which would best suit it.
Latd (Lots of bots as mutants and traitors as grots)
Ork Codex (6 full grot mobs, grot in mega armour as Warboss)
Speed Freaks (Grot tanks as buggies and battle Wagon)
Tau (Grot Airforce!?!:w00t: ; with grotz as firewarrior, Helicopters as Devillfish/Hammerhead and Deth Kopta with grot crew as battlesuit)
Imperial Guard/Witch Hunters (Guardsmen as grot, Pennitent engine as grot dread)
Right know I'm leaning toward the Grot Airforce because it would look really cool with fanatic models holding on to chopperblades as they go round and round.
What's the best way to show a grot army in all it (short lived) glory?
i would go with the guards men, mainly becuase they have the most grot like stats. they could be grots with lasguns and little imperial guard helmets. i think if you want to use the counts as rules, you should use grots but somehow distingush that they are actually guardsmen stats.(so use grots, but give them the proper equipment.) plus you could have a bunch of rickety vehicals manned by grots. you could make a basilisk that uses grots for amunition. also you could make a grot commander with an eye patch, scars, and a cigar in his mouth. or maybe a grot commisar.
i think using tau(although it sounds cool) might be streatching it a bit and might not fly with some people.

I know a guy who has a true grot army from the Ork Codex. Its hilarious. He uses big gunz, 6 troops of grots, as well some other miscelanious entries that are made properly grot like.
guard in my opinion.... but.... i have seen the most awsome 'grot' army of all time. think grots painted with human skin tone...
Squats. Awsome. Squats.
if you dont feel like bieng laughed at by morons who 'hate' squats then go with guard:w00t:

I play a Grot army using the Imperial Guard Rules. Going back into the fluff, rebel grots (aka. The Gretchin Revolutionary Committee) are well trained and have better equipment than normal grots (or they're just better at stealing their equipment!), they're also fanatical to the Revolution cause (represented by Iron Discipline)
I then max out on as many infantry platoons with Big Shootas (Heavy Bolters) and Kannons (Autocannons) as I can.
I get a squadron of "Looted" Sentinels ('Kans) with Lascannons.
The key to it is just maxing out on models. Overwhelming the enemy with Grot and Big Gun fire. Sometimes I'll take a couple of Basilisks, but it doesn't feel "Grot" to me.
The problem with doing an all-grot army is the huge cost. You're first paying for the metal grot models (well, I did anyway - because they are awesome models) and the Imperial Guard boxed sets for the lasguns, ammo, helmets, equipment etc. It won't come cheap!
do the ork codex
6 full grot squads with a "big grot"(mutant/ super mean grot) as the slaver
a mega armored grot command squad
grot killa kans
simple as that!
