Which? I'm unsure of what to give my lord (1000pts) He also has NO equipment no orb etc.
I'd go for the warscythe.
One, its friggin awesome.
Two, it's a better idea. Due to the lack of a res orb, the lord will need to alot of damage in a short amount of time. Being able to bypass that Librarian's Inv save before he psycho-fries you is crucial, in my opinion.

True, but sometimes you have to sacrifice model count for survivability.
If the standard player knew enought about Necrons to understand that they need to ignore armour in CC, then they'd load up on Power weapons and rending and MCs, the list continues.
Without a res orb, the Necrons will fall with NO We'll be Back. This equals to become phase out turn 2 or 3.
With the res orb centrally located amongst the majority of the models with WBB, they'll get it, even with Power weapons. Highly effective and will stave off phase out.
Put simply, take the res orb. After all, 2 warriors isn't going to affect your Phase Out percentage that much in the first place.

first all ways take the res orb.
now to the topic It really depends on how you plan to use your lord because both are good and warrior support the staff of light my be better at surport but the warscythe is good at taking inv save things and 2+ saves:yes:
For 1000, a res orb is a must. The only, and i mean only time, you should IMO not take a res orb is maybe for 500 pts (although it's usually applicable there as well), or combat patrol (where your opponents are unlikely to be able to insta-gib enough of your warriors to make it worthwhile: and, of course, lords are illegal).
These days, I just assume that the lord costs 140 points.
And concerning the 'scythe/ SoL... I'm fairly certain if you search you should come up with a couple of similar threads, several with my opinions in them. I'm not going to repeat them now, but basically SoL is better, and cheaper (these are unrelated in this case).

it depends on ur army, if your lord is hooked up with wraiths and trubo boosting into doom, warsyth for sure, sitting back keeping destroyers or HD's alive SoL, personaly i always take the WS on a 5' or smaller table, anything bigger i like a shooting attack befor they get to me
In the name of god impure souls of the living dead shal be banished into eturnal damnation. Amen.
Short answer: SoL normally, warscythe if you have the points spare.
D lord's should nearly always have a warscythe since they will actually go looking for CC. I use my foot lord and a indestructable monster (he's 195 points) so the warscythe is there just to deter anyone from CC.
