Welcome to Librarium Online!
Im playing a Lord battle next saturday, but since it was created by a Chaos player the max point limit is 220pts (a conincedence it's exactly the same amount of points his prince comes too.)
Well, im not allowed a retinue and just one figure. Im thinking at the moment to jsut chuck on everything, including a hellboard/jetbike and hope for the best.
Other thing is, how will this fair vs Deamon Princes and the like? Only thing I worry against is being isntant killed.
Ok, ive made this.
What do you think?
If points allow you can give him a hell mask, G taisman and plasma grenades
Maybe you should check, if a Punisher has a better Wounding Roll than the Agoniser, but without an Animus Vitae (which can't give it's bonus in an HQ Only Battle), I don't think so.
The Daemon Prince has Toughness 4, hasn't he? Maybe you can give your Archon a Jetbike and a Blaster to shoot and run (with T4 it would be an Insta-Kill), although I think he'll shoot you first.
I think you're going to be outclassed. If I know cheesy Chaos players (and trust me - I do know them well) he's going to be using a Statured Prince with a Dreadaxe. With that points value, probably Resilience, Aura, Mark of Khorne.... probably just about everything.
The very first thing you want to do is verify the legality of his Daemon Prince. Since he's limited to 100 points of Daemonic Gear (which includes Gifts of the Gods and Daemon Weapons), he's going to have to come up with 60 points worth of other items to come out to that high of a points value. Ten points can go to the Mark of Chaos... but 50 other points will be tough to account for.
It can be done, but unlikely if he's Statured.
So, the way I see it, he's one of three things.
A) Illegal in the worst of ways.
Non-statured with expensive, but non-daemonic, weaponry. Like L-Claws, and either Terminator Armour or a Bike.
C) A psyker.
So... the first thing you want to do is rule out option A. Pretty unfair of a match if he's playing an illegal Lord. Note that he many not realize his Lord is illegal - many Chaos players don't.
If it's option B, then you shouldn't have too much of a problem. The Shadowfield will probably keep you alive, and you out class him in combat. Stick with the Agonizer, as he will have toughness five. That way you can use the Combat Drugs to give yourself other bonuses rather than attempt for the bonus strength.
If it's option C, then you're going to be screwed. Reason being is that he won't be able to be Khornate, which means no Berzerker Glaive. The best weapon for a boss fight for non-Khornates is the Dreadaxe, which ignores your Shadowfield. He will be strength six, so will instant kill you, and you will have no saves. Your only chance is to kill him before he can strike, which will be hard since he has toughness six and four wounds.
Thanks for the replys.
Since I;ve played him in the past (the Chaos player) I remember his Deamon Prince having Toughness 6, Strength 6, and lots of attacks >_<
Btw, isn't a Archite just a female Archon?
Or - Should I just scrap the Archon and use the special character (the mandrake with four arms). I could just hide for three turns while everyone else kills each other then jump out and finish them off hehe
One more thing - would I be best scrapping the Dark Eldar route and using a Space Marine Librarian with a force weapon, viel of time (re-roll everything in combat when not using force wep), Iron mantle and being able to instance killed?
I don't get this... Dark Eldar are meant to be one of the most potent Close Combat armies around, and I thought their HQ's should represent that. But how comes they are so terrible 1v1?
They aren't necessarily terrible, and they should be able to hold their own. I'd, personally, try this:
Arcite w/ Agoniser, Tormentor Helm, Reaver Jetbike, Combat Drugs, Shadowfield, Hellmask (maybe?)
Arcites aren't necessarily the same as a female Archon... they have different rules, the most useful of which being the Wych Weapons they get for free.
