He entered a blackstone fortress to stop it from attacking Cadia and his soul was trapped inside it with a keeper of secrets for company.

"if you strike me down i shall become more powerful than you could ever imagine..." a psychically charged blackstone fortress, whoopee, hopefully his mind is still intact enough to manipulate the ship
Space Marines are the gateway drug
If everyone makes fun of West Virginia, who does West Virginia make fun of?
In other words, Eldrad Ulthran is alive and well, considering he's soulless. But for some reason his power has increased quite a bit, but he's slowly turning to crystal.
As per the new 'dex, they don't know if he's dead or not. Most believe him lost, but some of his closest students think that he is fighting an eternal battle against chaos within the Blackstone Fortress.
Fallen to chaos and a nasty man for slaanesh or Dark Eldar. (eldrad would never fall wee wee wew wee wee - save the whining, it's JUST a suggestion).
Or he escapes and is just the same excepts, knows more about Chaos<-- most probable.
But this is what I think actually happened inside the blackstone fortress:
They've resolved their differences and the Keeper of Secrets and Eldrad are playing Halo together. Although they still argue over who drives and who's the gunner in the jeep bits.
They tried twister at first, but the Keeper of Secrets had an unfair advantage with its extra limbs.
Don't all farseers slowly turn to crystal? That was my impression from some fluff I found in the Necron 'dex.

He's dead, and I expect he isn't coming back.
He's in the Codex as a special character because he had good rules, and the codicies frequently include characters who are dead in the "present" 40K timeline- see Lord Solar Macharius or a huge number of Fantasy Battles special characters.
Yes, all Farseers are slowly *crystallizing* and at some point (this is probably extremely rare situation that farseer reaches this age) they have to transfer their soul into the infinity circuit.Originally Posted by UnderDarkLordI don't know if he's really dead... all we know that his soul was sucked into the corrupted talisman... we probably won't see him back but I sure hope that he causes a lot of troubles to the demons inside the talisman.Originally Posted by JOHIRA
