    Sporemines

while looking at my codex yesterday i noticed that the sporemines fired by biovores have a leadership of 5 while the leadership of the sporemines that deepstrike have a leadership of 10, whats up with the difference, they're technically the same thing so why a difference?

Hmm. Good question. Don't all spore mines just scatter around anyways? Or, if the Ld5 ones fail a Ld test, do they have a chance of standing still?

I didn't think the player had any choice in their movement anyways.

No clue why they have different leaderships. Essentially it doesn't matter though. They can't get in cc, you can't choose where they move, infact the only thing I could think of would be that if they were shot and only 1 or 2 died, they could fall back but since they are fearless, it doesn't matter. Basically it makes no difference game wise except maybe against some sort of psychic attack that is based on leadership comparisons.

not entirely true, in the rare instance you get a hit with the scatter dice you do get to choose the direction they move, although not the distance

The high leadership is basically to represent their overall brainlessness.

Biovores are crappy little yellow bellied cowards who will run a mile as soon as things don't go their way.

Spore mines, having no brain, wouldn't really be scared by anything. Hence the high leadership score perhaps.

Actually you can give tyrant guards spine fists:lol:

Edit: Sorrey, I was mistaken, Macewind, your rant doesn't have any holes in it.

This appears to be incorrect. In the current codex, I cannot find a reference for this option under the tyrant guard.

Ah, left over rules from 3rd edition still haunt me! I don't use them that much and remembered the concept sketch of them with spine fists. Oh well, it doesn't really matter.
