Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am just statin a ork army and I really like their dreads and killa Kans but I don't know witch one to go with if 3 killa Kans with out stompa a dread or not
Then a dreadnough has frontal av of 12 so they count as 10 models but if in cc They only have I 2 so they go last and the Kans can pump out more shoots and more atackks in cc then 1 dread so witch is the better option?
Generally, Two kanz > A dreadnought.
You get almost twice the survivability, and more attacks in CC. You can also use them in separate mobz, forcing your opponent to spit his fire, and allow you to distribute your firepower better.
depends on who you are facing. armys with mostly bolters and such are best left to the kans, because they cant be touched, get more attacks, and heavy weapons can generally only take out one at a time. even better if you spread them out over several squads, but in large games that isnt possible.
the dreads 12 armor is better against tau firewarriors, but thats about it in theory craft. they can also be a mobile weapons platform, even a KMB one, but generally you want them in assault and not shooting. the option to twin link helps with this, but then they're vulnerable to getting locked in combat with large numbers of opponents.
one example: a hammerhead is shooting at your dread. it has pretty fair chances of taking out the dread if it rolls decently. if he destroys it there goes 100 odd points. Against kans however, he has higher chances of taking out one kan but its impossible for it to take them all out unless you made it a unit of 1.
Another example: three kans are assaulting a space marines dread. the dread has good chances of taking out one of them before they get to swing, and if he's lucky two. but after he's done, your last kan will most likely hit with 1 or 2 attacks, get a pen, and either severely damage it or destroy it. a space marine dread against one of your dreads will almost always win or damage it to tip the balance, because it has higher initiative.
Ok hope this helped you out, just remember the numbers are generally better.
the more killer kanz the better..
just on the basis for orks , the more troops the better.. and of course you will have far more attacks from 3 kanz if you compare them with 1 dreadnought.
' Let's be Honest, Orks Don't Care Who They Fight With '
let's look at it this way...
you send your Dreadnought into that big winged hive tyrant because (like me) your either stupid or brave and the tyrant attacks first and destroys it, well that's 80 something points gone
but if you did this with 3 Kanz (again stupid or brave) the tyrant might only destroy one or 2 and have that nice little Kan it forgot to smack it silly
and there is a chance that those kans only get immobolised or stunned, and even the explosions hurt the tyrant and it is litterly more bang for your buck...

i agree with rannon zriker but if you have a dreadnought with two kans then you get one more attack and you can have 12 big shooat att insted of nine but it does costway more you could buy ast least 7 more boyzso its your dicision better armor save and more att or price i would reccomend if your play a 1500 pt or more army put a dreadnought with two kans if its less than just do three kans:drinking:
Take both - as many of 1 and about half of the other (Kans: Dreads Ratio). The Kans are great in relatively big groups, like 3-5, backed up with 1-2 dreads depending on the amount of Kans.
In any situation you're gonna lose one or two Kans and maybe a Dreadnought, however 1 or 2 reaching the line can do serious damage. They aren't mainly used as a mainstay for Ork tactics, they are used as shnock tropps to smash the enemy lines and break your opponents firing line enough to allow you to assault as many Boy as possible.
I think all you need to do is remember that Boyz are what makes an army and the Kans are what finish it.
Hope it helps,
