Well, since there arent anymore craftworlds in the new codex, a kickass Biel-Tan army is becoming difficult to assemble. I used to like having 2 squads of Fire Dragons in Falcons with 2 squads of Banshees in Serpents, but now, we're restricted to 3 elite choices with the craftworld rules. I have absolutely no idea on how to cope with this. Any advice?
If you used the Dragons against Vehicles, swap them for Swooping Hawks, now lethal against Vehicles. If they went after MEQs well you dont have a huge problem, half the list is great against MEQs, maybe swap a squad for some reapers. Still Aspect Warriors. Still lethal versus MEQs.
Look at it as an oportunity to try something new.
Good luck mate.
Yeah I play Swordwind and quite often used 6 elites. Now I can assemble them all into 3 squads (since warp spiders moved thank god) but that still means I have to drop my scorpions, dragons or banshees in order to use the great new harlequins.
I also have to go and buy 10 new dire avengers just to fill up my troops slots (and it forces me to use my rangers).
Oh well GW can suck the money out of me for avengers and guardians.
Check out my Codex: Farmyard Animals here!
If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
Sorry...I haven't got the new codex yet, it's kinda slow in my city; but how do the new Swooping Hawks work?
It was just a bit disappointing cos I've always liked mechanized armies. And I've always been a big fan of Banshees, Scorpions and Dragons. Especially Dragons. Even more so now, since the new models are really great and they're even more powerful.
Bye bye Monolith.
Its only natural to feel some disapointment. We put in a lot of time and effort to build, convert and paint up our stuff. To no longer be able to take some after that can suck a bit. Just dont let it get under your skin. You were going to update some models and try out something new anyway right? Well now you can get something good.
Funny about the Dragons. I prefere the current models, but it seems most would agree with you.
As for disapointing changes, I remember when Eldar had the same toughness as Marines (3!), a better save(mesh and refractor fields) and the Shuriken Catapult was better than a Bolter (ahhh, -2sv and Following Fire). Fortunately the game is a lot more balenced and fast paced than Rogue Trader so I can live with it.

I dont know about remember but I can look it up, from what I recall over half range was -1 to hit, but dont recall anyone extending it
Everything you have been told is a lie!
You absolutely can still swordwind. You just have to use dire avengers and non-elite aspects now. A painful switch I am sure for those who wish to hit enemies with lots of CC, but really your pretty well off. Dire avengers are now reasonable troops and swooping hawks and shining spears are much more practical. You can still Biel-Tan, but it will look a lot more balanced.
Ruthlessness is the mercy of the wise.
Old school Biel-tan had all but Hawks or Spears as Troops. They stayed as Fast attack.
With the new Codex, all current and Former Eldar players have been griping about it no end... the lack of craftworlds that is.
Fear not, I'll give you the rundown on how many Aspect warriors you could use.
Very dangerous when it comes to massive amounts of Aspect.
- 3 Choices from: Banshee, Spider, Scorpion, Dragon
- 6 Choices from: Avenger
- 3 Choices from: Hawk, Spear
- 3 Choices from: Reaper
You can now field a very one-track army with 4 or more of the same Aspect (Guilty)
- 6 Choices from: Banshee, Avenger, Spider, Dragon, Scorpion, Reaper
- 3 choices from: Hawk, Spear
That's a pure Aspect warrior army. What loss of Biel-tan? You get the same bonus as the old Craftworld did... You can actually have 1 of each Aspect warrior. Now you can do that with a strong Avenger base for General Infantry, which is a blessing. Then a powerful, reliable ranged attack squad in the 3 Reapers. You lose no freedom, you actually GAIN it.
- 2 Autarchs
- 3 from: Banshee, Dragon, Scorpion
- 6 Avengers
- 3 from: Hawk, Spear, Spider
- 3 Reapers
BIEL-TAN LIVES!!! QAPLAA!
