okay, i was thinking that is this a legal HQ choice because it seems unreasonably good (new to DE by the way).
3x Haemonculus as one single HQ choice
all equipped with a scissorhand, destructor, skyboard, and hell mask.
i thought this was basically too good for a cheap (not that cheap actually) ...... points a haemonculi.
With this combo you get 12 attacks on the charge and all hits wound on a 2+, a 4+ save (skyboard) and ignores terrain, moves 12" can still shoot destructor, and to compensate for the under average initiative of a haemonculus the hell mask makes you more difficult to hit especially useful againsst termegaunts for example.
Thanks for reading, please comment if anything is legally incorrect or if you have any suggestions.
Well, they couldn't actually be a squad, but you could have 3 Haemonculi cruising around next to each other.
Don't forget that if you end your turn in difficult terrain you need to take a difficult terrain test (but can obviously jump over it).
180 points for the group of 3 actually seems overly expensive to me for what you get. Sure you get your 12 attacks hitting on 3+ and wounding on 2+, which results in about 6 dead gaunts, or about that many Guardsmen. But it's only 2 dead marines for 180 points. Admittedly I haven't accounted for their destructors which have the potential to do a decent job. My main problem is that here you have a fast unit, which will thus probably be out in front, but they've only got 6 wounds between them, and if they're up front their IC status probably won't protect them.
I don't mean to discourage you from trying them, and if you pull off their charge they could be alright against lightly-armoured opponents IF they can get their destructors off. Against MEQs I think they'll get mauled. Personally, I'd rather have another Raider squad. But you might as well proxy a few games and have a go with them.
You'd probably be better off dropping the hellmask and saving the points. The important thing to remember is this unit, like all others, need back up.
But, DE are known for our incredible HQs.
Everything I have told you, even this, is a lie.
For a few bux more you can have them on bikes instead for tasty T5 goodness.
As fun as it looks on paper this is a gimick 'unit' that never makes it's points back unless maybe you are playing CoD or Bunker Assault since the destructor is our only flamer template weapon (ignores covers saves).
Give it a go though and see how you like it. If you nab 3 assault termies with a lucky AP1 roll you'll feel totally vindicated in taking such a screwy 'unit'
