So, by now everyone has heard that there may be a new DE release sometime in the nebulous future. For me, that rumour causes both joy and trepidation. Joy, because we'll probably get some lovely new models and trepidation because I'm scared to death that some of rules for my favorite 40k army are going to get nerfed. I'm guessing that a lot of other DE players are feeling the same.
Right now, DE are kind of a niche army. Most (but by all means, not all) DE players are a little older, a little more experienced and prone to take their time and think things through before they act. We're also die-hard supporters of our army of choice. Most of this is due to necessity. When your army is made up of T3 +5Sv models and AV10 skimmers, you need to think a little differently than your average UltraMarines player if you want to win. When you have to direct order or Ebay most of your models, you tend to put a little more thought into your choices. I wonder how much all of this will change if we get a heavily marketed new release?
This brings me to the point of this post. We all know that the guys in development at GW read these forums. I can't say for sure whether or not they actually use the things they read here, but it stands to reason that they'd be foolish if they didn't at least pay them some attention. Being that there are relatively few current DE players and most of us are pretty hard-core, I would think that a fairly high percentage of us use these boards, or the boards at other forums. This leads me to believe that we might have a chance to influence the new DE release and perhaps save a few of the things that we like the most about our army and get rid of the things we like the least.
So, without further preamble, I'd like to see what everyone would like to stay the same with the DE and what everyone thinks should be changed. I'll post my own wish list at a later date.
Talos - should be str8 or power weapons need rending in my opinion. Both would be ideal but somewhat cheesy, but still...
Scourges - should be able to move and fire dark lances by some new special rule or something, or should be decreased in cost
Warp beasts - make them a simple elite choice, meaning 0-3 availability not 0-1
mandrakes - should have the ption of squad leader that has access to armory
Grotesques - Urien should have 10 available grots for his personal retinue not just 4-5 cant remember for sure. normal once should have 6+ armor save
Raider - front armor should be 11 like a ravager, side and rear should remain 10 as it is. Just makes no sence, both raider and ravager have the same front so why is raider weaker??? GW has awful reasoning
Warriors - should have the option of being equiped with 2 CC weapons rather then the rifle
Archon - 3+ save like the incubi, after all he is supposenly the main character that should have the best items, should available as a troop choice in case u want an Incubi cult or something of that sort.
Some type of Incubi power armor, available for entire squad or a single character, if for whole squad then squad cant use FoF
Powerblades, just like eldar
Stuff from Artemis.com like Night lance, vendetta, wych skills and ect, its a very good website with some nice ideas that GW needs to LEARN from.
A LARGER MINIATURE SELECTION AS WELL AS WEAPON RANGE, more units and weapons to choose from. I am sick of rellying on dark lances to be my main anti-tank weapons. We need Str9-10 type of weapon available to us, as well as some type of ordnance or barrage.
For me, it's a shame that the characterful units aren't really worth it. Units like Grotesques and Mandrakes are all but ignored in serious armies because they're just not worth the points they cost for what they do. This applies for all new armies, but obviously it would be nice if they could balance it so that you have to consider at least MOST units as possibilities. From what I've heard they didn't really manage that with the new Eldar codex (although that might just be backlash from people's favourite units not being as uber as they were, ie no one seems to be taking starcannons now, but it seems that a S6 AP2 2 shot weapon would still be useful).
I guess the thing I'm afraid of is loss of interesting rules in the name of streamlining. Any bet that the next Codex's Mandrakes will merely be Deep Striking or Infiltrating. Look what happened to the Lictor, after all. He lost a cool, characterful deployment rule so that they could slot it into a more generic Deep Striking rule. Same thing with Grotesques, I bet they just get Feel No Pain or something similar. So I guess I'm hoping to keep some of the more interesting special rules.
In general, I think a lot of us are hoping the army doesn't get "noobified". That is to say, we hope that it stays a challenging army to use, but one that can be very effective if used well. I hope that their level of firepower remains. I've looked at all sorts of other armies, and DE have some of the best firepower around. I can't get used to the idea of not doing as much damage as my DE. At the same time, i don't want to see them get all armoured up because people complained about our cardboard armour. I know AV10 Raiders are frustrating, but that's who we are. So I hope we maintain the style of army that we have.
I guess that's not so much a wish LIST, but there's some of my thoughts.
New Fluff. I want more fluff, especially incubi stuff.
Let's give hellions a buff, i love the models, and played a few games with them, but I think they deserve an extra attack or something... I mean, there are so many units in the Dark Eldar Army that are so rarely used, I want to see more scourges on the table, I mean the idea of flying dark reapers are pretty cool, but they only have a 5+ save and are unbelievavbly expensive for what they do. Let them take the Tank Hunters ability and that would be amazing in big games when I'm facing a million land raiders and a trillion monoliths.
However, I think that Dark Eldar need Str 9 and 10 weapons really badly. I'm sick of monoliths and Black Templar LRC's that my dark lances need 6's to glance.. I once had a game, where I completely DESTROYED everything in a Black Templar 1500 point game, except for one LRC, and I just coulnd't take that thing down. It ended up ripping through 2 wych squads and the my opponent won. Or, atleast make the Dark Lance Ap1, or change the Blaster to a melta weapon. Then, give the Talos some kind of buff.. maybe 2+d3 attacks? that way, I don't roll a one and cry.
These, and a few new models won't hurt.
I've often thought mandrakes should be able to have a squad leader with access to the armory...but then i think about how cheesy it would be to give a webway portal to a mandrake...it'd be more broken than an ulthwe strikeforce.
Maybe if the mandrakes had the ability to take anything BUT a webway portal.
Also, I agree that scourges should either be able to fire their lances on the run, or just cost less.
Bikes might need another tweak too (we used to be the only bikes in the game that got a turbo-boost, remember?)
I agree that you should be able to take more warp beats...they're darn good.
And yes, lords with the option of incubi armor, most definitely!

The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. Bring them understanding of the power of ourselves through our strength and their fear. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all fragments will be smashed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be consumed
Well, how about replacing those scourge DLs with blasters? That would solve the problem of them not being able to move and shoot, while helping them to stand out from the warriors.
Warp beasts doesent need to be more avaliable to out kabals, but it could be cool if we had some diffrent critters to choose from. We already have the small and fast beasts, but how about some slower and stronger? Or the option to take a single large MC? That would be cool. Oh, and I would also love to see the beasts in our armoury too, as something our lords can take with them as his bodyguards.. like those space wolf critters, chaos hounds, and whatever else there is out there.. we need it!
How about AV11 for the front of the raiders? Ive always thought that the front plow of the raiders lookend more sturdy than its AV10 gives it credit for, and ravagers are AV11 with the same front. The 4th edition kind of nerfed raiders, so I guess it could be done without raising the point cost too much.
Mandrakes need squad leaders, special weapons, and access to the armoury. Perhaps the squad leader upgrade would only be avaliable to players with a mandrake lord HQ? And armies lead by a mandrake lord would become a 'shadow army', with mandrakes with special weapons and squad leaders for troops and without access to raiders. Yeah, that would balance out the WWP issue.
Now that I mentioned mandrake lords.... I want mandrake lords! Like.. a shadow skined archon that altered the FoC like a wyche lord, just in favor of mandrakes instead of wyches.
... more stuff is definately coming up.

Lots of those things mentioned are unreasonable or unfluffy and ruin the theme of dark eldar. Av 11 raiders? That means none of the basic weapons that could hurt them before can. It would also make them unreservedly better than any other transport in the game easily. It ruins our fast and fragile theme. It would also very considerably raise their points cost, which we DON'T want. 3+ save lords is un-needed, 4+ will do fine, 3+ is just making them more like smurfs or incubi, and they aren't incubi.
Incubi as troops is inappropriate, unbalanced and unfluffy.
Scourges with blasters completely changes the identity of the unit. I've already worked on some pretty neat changes for them, but it doesn't involve weapon swaps.
Strength 9 and 10 weapons? No. Maybe haywire grenade launchers (can shoot plasma, krak or haywire) and stuff like that, but not str 9 and 10 weapons. I've had this arguement before, when I was on the other side, and I was wrong. Though it would be neat, and would bring some pride to the army and that warm feeling inside, it is too much to ask.
Powerblades would be even more sick, though cool it'd make our lords even more beastly, and our squad leaders far too killy. I just want the basic stuff, our crap stuff made decent and some cool, unique, original new wargear and units. None of this fancy trash that we don't need or making us more like smurfs. If I ever see DE lords with 3+ armour and 4+ invunerable saves and stuff I will know that GW has truelly abandoned the players and it is 100% for the money. I don't want them oversimplifying this army making it easy, smurf like, being able to take a bullet. I want to be scared when I don't have enough cover from all my raiders, I want to have to double and triple check distances in my mind before I pull my raiders from behind cover, a failed charge should be DEADLY, not "lets all shrug it off with our great armour saves". No.

My personal wish list is as follows
Raider Squads should have an option to change their rifles for CCW&SP
Also some new troops choises
Mandrakes - Squad leader(without the option for wwp)and points drop
Grotesques - fleet of foot
Helions - +1 attack, and maybe a points drop
Reavers - more weapon options (splinter cannon) and/or +1A
New fast attack, something like the vyper/landspeeder
Talos - make him a bit faster, and normal monstrous creature rules vs vehicles
Scourges - points drop, move to fast, and make it a combat squad(two weapons, and no heavy weapons, only assault)
Ravager - its good, but maybe AV12 in the front? raiders should stay at AV10
New heavy choice - warriors with 4 heavy weapons, also with 0-1/0-2 option for disintegrator
Shreader - extended range
Better armour option for characters, but incubi armour would be to much
Reaver - points drop and it should increase the armour save of character raiding it
Some new cools staff New beautiful models and tons of fluff
