so my lictor gets lucky deepstriking on the side of the tank, its a whirlwind armor 11 on the front and sides, i assault it and i auto hit cause it hasn't moved, i get one rending hit against it. but you know that second six that i have to roll after the first one, what happens if i dont get that second six? is that attack like ignored, if i get like a two does the hit still penetrate or what?
Legion Of Everblight: Abyslonia
Protectorate of Menoth: Grand Exemplar Kreoss
Rule book p.46 under Special Close Combat Attacks, under Rending.
Rending vehicles only works on the armour penetration rolls instead of to-hit rolls. The roll of 6 to armour penetration PLUS the rending dice result PLUS the strengh of the assault cannon is the final AP result.
so if your stupid like me
Lets say STR 4(gene) and the model moved like 2 inches or sumthing and side armor of 11
Hit roll 4+ to hit
roll a 5 STR=9. no good
Roll a 6 STR=10 still no good
HOWEVER since you got a 6 on the +(ing)to str you roll again
roll a 1 glance 2+ pen
so it goes
Dice + STR
(if 6)roll 1 more time
No sig required.
Okay, easy mode!
If you use Rending Weapon on:
If you rolled a to-hit dice on a 6, you automatically hit and wound and there is no need to roll to-wound dice anymore.
Roll to-hit as normal, then roll armour penetration (strengh + 1D6), if the 1D6 comes up to be a 6, you get to roll 1 more dice and add that extra dice result to the first dice result.. then it would become something like Strengh + 2D6.. but only happens if you rolled an armour penetration roll of 6!
