Welcome to Librarium Online!
Is it just me or do the new Banshees look really, really bad? I mean, what could GW design have been thinking when they replaced the old, uber-cool blade shaped helmets with the dumb bullet-heads? Thats not to mention the completely idiotic exarch, with her stupid crown and big, gemstone-like zit planted squarely between her eyes
"You're very interesting, and very perceptive. So interesting, and so perceptive, in fact, that we shall now fight with KNIVES!"
"I've been dead long before you were born, and I'll be dead long before you'll be dead!"
lol, maybe they wanted to empthasize on the cone head theme
Anyways I agree with you there...I don't find the new Banshee models amazing, however I think the power swords are an improvement as is with the rest of the body.....just the helmet that really throws it off.
On the plus side this is not present in the Exarch models, I do dislike the pose for the executioner model but the one the mirror swords look like she's about to flip out on someone. Some goes for most of the other exarchs I've seen....good improvement and makes them look like the elite.
i am glad that i have the previous range models
IĀ“m actually more mispleased with the new Scorpions. I actually like the older(semi-new) russian acrobatic ones better.. and the even older ones were better too. The new Fire dragons arenĀ“t an improvement over the previous generation either.
On the plus side, the new wraithlord, war walker and the new rangers and dire avengers really are improvements.
They could really do with new warp spiders and updated jetbike pilots as well.
Currently painting and playing Waaaaagh Bigtoof 40k and Aeronautica Imperialis.
Striking Scorpions - I love 'em. Much better than the old ones.
Fire Dragons - Maybe THE best Eldar infantry unit out now. Look so damn uber!
Banshees - Very nice apart from their heads, but I'll get them looking good somehow.
Warp Spiders - I really like the current models, no new ones needed.
Dark Reapers - I'm not sure about these guys. I think I prefered the old heads, but body-wise I dunno.
Dire Avengers - I LOVE the Exarch. And the models are pretty cool too.
I like all the vehicles except the Vyper - the Jetbike front part looks a bit crappy IMO.
And the ugliest models ever are the new Chaos Possessed (you know, the dancers?)

banshees are chubby and cluttered and aren't a jot on the previous range. just look at the detailing; the armour is atrocious. bitty and over-sculpted. the only decent part is the new sword.
fire dragons have always sucked but i guess these models are an improvement. I think they should have some sort of flame-pack on their backs, as they look like a slight breeze would knock the guns from their tiny eldar hands.
dire avengers are awesome. just plain awesome.
reapers are better but I'm undecided on the helmets.
new farseers are sublime, as is the bonesinger.
the jetbikes sorely needed an overhaul IMHO. they look old and outdated and I was annoyed that they didn't do one. The pilots look so blocky.
Warp spiders are decent models but I do think they deserved an overhaul over the banshees.
war walkers are just beautiful, as is the Wraithlord.
thats my opinion.

"The sword that takes life gives life."
I have to say the I agree about the new banshees.
But the problems with the new banshees are majorly off set by the awesomeness of the new Eldar walkers.

Sweet. Variety of opinion will hopefully result in variety on the tabletop. Get the ones you prefere and paint them how you like, others be damned. With the balence in the new Codex opening up options for different forces and 2/3 choices of model for some aspects is it realistic to hope that our forces will look and play as the disparate enclaves of a near dead race, that they always should have? I think yes and it makes my heart sing.
As for my preferences; I think older Dragons are better than the new, but the new Scorpions are so much better than the old I may even take some. I prefere the older Reapers, but the new Avengers. Banshees I cant decide. I'll need to get some new ones, paint them and see how they feel. The cool new swords might carry them over the old ones.
