I think the tyranids should have more elites, because all they have is Lictors and Warriors, and Warriors can be used as HQ too. Plus i'd like to se some new tyranids. And maybe some new weapons i'd like to se that too.
Don't forget carnifexs if they cost only so much.
Also this might sound harsh and it's not meant to be but what is it that you are asking.
but carnifexes are heavy support, and im asking for more elite tyranids
But they can be taken as elitess. as for elite bugs it would be nice to get a bug whos primary roll is shooting.
The reason Tyranids don't get another elite selection is because we have one that can be taken as troops (genestealers). I always fill my elites section, and don't think another choice would help. I think lictors, and two carnis are a pretty solid use of the chart (I infact have to use my second HQ slot for warriors because I have too many elites). However I think that stealers are the main reason, just think about any other armies troops slots and find one that is as specialized as stealers; the only way to do it is to have a specialized chaos army and that hurts the rest of your list.
It never ceases to amaze me when people with varied army lists ask for more variety... Go talk to the Necron players about variety.
Honestly, I think the Tyranids list is as varied as it needs to be, including the Elites section. Warriors, Carnifexes, Lictors... you have more than enough to choose from, plus a lot of other choices for your Fast Attack, Troops, etc.
Not to mention, you can technically make different variations of things like Warriors, using biomorphs, etc. ... nothing to complain about.
I agree, it's like the Necron Warriors are suppose to be the Elite choice and Necron army has no Troop whatsoever.
Anima Tactics - try it out!
The fact that you can get 12 shots from twinlinked, reroll wounds, that hit on 4's for 81pts is simply mean. Or go for the 8 s6 of the same thing on a t6 MC. Or a unit that can always DS and allows you to reroll reserves, plus has s6 and rends.
We have plenty of elites. My problem is I never have enough slots. warriors for hq? then what happens to my 2 HT's? carnies in heavy? already have 2 and my zoes.
We can go stealth with our elite-lictors. Fast CC (leaping warriors with rc and st), slow cc (screamer killer fex), or shooty as all can be.
So, I'm plenty happy with the elite choices we have, just wish we could take warriors as troops=) Now you're talking (yes, I know they can already be taken as HQ, elite, and fast, but those slots are already full=)
16,000+ of Eldar (only need flyers)
7,000+ of Nids (want heirophant)
6,000+ of Space Marines (need rever titan)
4,400+ of Cygnar (all models for the faction)
1,500+ of Legion (just started)
Just to add there is one thing that went missing in the transition from 3rd to 4th ed.
Heavy support warriors! With Venom cannon! 9 models per brood! S7! TWO shots each! If we had them in this rules set we could get TL!
Hideious price though!
But would out shoot Fire warriors...
I think part of the point of 'Nids is they aren't meant to out shoot armies like Tau. (Whilst they probably could if they really tried, I guess)
Otherwise, why play anyone else? ^_^
And yeah, the 'Nids have enough elite choices as is - Warriors can be shooty or melee, equipped however you see fit - usually with enough biomorphs to enable them to adapt to any situation, and the same (almost) goes for elite Carnifex's.
*almost as they have point restrictions, but hey - it's a 'Fex. It's scary.
Apathy is its own reward...
