I have been reading through the Eldar codex the last couple days and I know I want at least one squad of Swooping Hawks in my upcoming army.
My question is, which weapon is considered to be better for a take all comers list that I wont be changing based on my enemies, the Hawks Talon or the Sunrifle?
the strength of the Hawks Talon is nice, but so is the pinning and number of shots that the Sunrifle has.
Any help would be appreciated.
"I am the architect of fate!"
If I was to take either, I'd use the Sunrifle. Since it matches the strength and AP of the standard Lasblaster, it keeps the role of the unit the same. I've found the people who use the Hawk's Talon think that suddenly they can start taking on full sized MEQ units simply because they have one gun that wounds a bit easier.
That and there's something very satisfying about rolling six shots all at BS5 and making your opponent squirm. Even if they're not very lethal shots.
I vote Sunrifle. Both weapons kill MEQ equally well on average, making the Sunrifle overall better. Ofcause it really shines against hordes.
When I was your age Pluto was a planet and Wraithlords had D-cannons! Ah, the good old days!
Agreed sunrifle. at the loss of web of skulls and sustained assault.

I was thinking I will use this model as a SH exarch with sunrifle, since I don't think there is a model out for the sunrifle yet. Would any of you guys argue with that? Just curious.
edit: never mind... I just realized he still has a Shuri pistol, I guess I have to use it as a power weapon instead. Any arguments with this?

To bad I don't have picks of mine. I used the Baharroth model and used used Pegasus wings. I had a slightly different take on the web of skulls. I used chain to chain it together and I used heads from a bunch of races on it.
Exactly. That's what an Exarch SHOULD do. Not to cover up weaknesses in a specialist squad, but to strengthen their strengths. (Sunrifle is like having 2 extra lasblasters)Now they have to make use of their Grenade packs and Las Blasters which I'm quite happy about, and the Exarch supports this role too.
They used to have Fire Dragon exarchs with CC abilities, now I for one am glad they made the exarchs more 'into' the original pupose of the squad. Like for Dragons, shoot; Banshees, assault. Not to try and be decent at EVERYTHING.
I'm not unhappy about the change... its just that he was a MONSTER in combat. But everyone else in the squad became a delivery device. Very uneldar like.
