Welcome to Librarium Online!
im new to eldar, and was wondering if the eldar boxed set is worth the money for a first time player. I will be getting it for chirstmas, and i hav a boat load of extra money built up from summer jobs. So comments regarding if it is good, and how i could improve it
sry if this has already been brought up, but i usually just look at the eldar lists forum

I believe the box set is a good deal. It comes with very popular aspect warriors (howling banshees and fire dragons) which are staples in many a list. It also comes with a full squad of dire avengers (which I'm in love with now) as well as a squad of guardians (not really a fan, but they are useful). In addition you get a vyper, wraithlord, falcon, and a heavy weapon crew to give you a taste of much of what the codex can offer you, as well as the autarch to lead your army, which for me is nice because in my area none of my hobby shops even have the model yet. To top it all off, you get the codex too, meaning that if you buy the box set, you will have a playable army which can be easily catered to the style of play you enjoy as well as providing many staple units of the Eldar race at a reasonable price. I found one on Ebay for $134 USD buy it now and a measly 10 dollars shipping cost. GW really knocked this army set out of the park, and I recommend any new Eldar player to start with it because it really gives you an idea of what our army is all about.

Yes, the boxed set is a very good deal. It's a full army and all of the units included can be considered staples of an Eldar force. If I didn't have an army yet, I would buy it.

True. The box set is a good buy, even if you don't need some of the models in your army. Who knows, you might change your mind later onwards. You will save a lot of money.
If you're not on Saim- Hann or Iyanden, I would definitely recommend it. Playing these two will not require a LOT the box set gives you. Eg. With Iyanden, the only thing you'll use is probably the Wraithlord, Guardians and the Falcon.
Still, if you have no idea what army theme you want, buy it anyway, it's a good starter force compared to the other army box sets.
Or maybe I just like Eldar too much.
I bought it, along with the new battle force. the new eldar models are just too cool. Too bad painting isn't as fun.
i usually paint 1 squad at a time and i dont think anyones entire army is painted among my group.
