Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have been using a 3 men jetbike squad with a shuriken cannon upgrade for a couple of battles now and I gotta say... they rule!
Seriously they made their points back almost every time (one time they killed just over 200 but that was insane). I do have to use them as a suicide unit (which I resent a little) but when you do, they're great. They can knock out light vehicles like rhinos and piranhas or get a nifty shot at the rear (mwuhahha take that hammerhead!), they can pin shooty squad for a while and against some armies you can ubuse their rules. i used them to let my opponents penitent engines run circles and in the eldary white dwarf (358 i think) he used them against black templars.
Have any of you guys used them yet in such a way or maybe differently? What are your oppinions about them?
(ow and plus they look realy narly)
The Morbidos Fleet will reclaim the Eldar empire. This time there shall be no mercy. Let them choke in their own blood!
I used a group of three last time i played and they were able to kill a squad of annoying ratlings.
Aww, and here I was clicking and hoping this was a misplaced rumour thread about new jetbike models
I do <3 jetbikes... but I've yet to try the new rules out, mainly because my jetbikes are a little broken/ badly painted (7 year-old figures) and I don't want them to look out of place in the army.
How is everyone using these? Up close with catapults, or playing shuriken cannon kiss-chase at 24"?
I'm currently wondering whether to just wait another 12 years for GW to make a new jetbike model, or to press on and use some new dire avenger torsos (thinner than the guardian torsos, fits better on the bike) and shining spear legs to convert the riders. Also toying with the idea of cutting out thin plastic runes to add some detail to the hull/ carving vyper-style tram lines on the wings. It's a good figure, just needs a quick update to bring it in line with the new stuff.
I've never had much luck with jetbikes.
Also since eldar has been redone twice now in the past recent years they look really out of place and need an overhaul really badly.
in my opinion i'd say that many of the old models were just fine like the dire avengers, scorpions, banshees, dark reapers, swooping hawks, guardians etc. Then they redid things like wrathlords and warwalkers needed pretty bad. But they havent done anything with warp spiders or jetbikes now since 2nd edition. sad....
I used bikes many years ago when the model first came out and then rapidly fell out of favour with them, although I always had the models so I occasionaly threw them into lists
about 4 years ago I started playing Siam Hann, mostly jetbikes, this was always arduos under the old points costs, but the ussage remained the same:
Bikes are great fun and work exceptionally well in a number of rolls, you dont have to use them as a suicide squad, they are very versitile, although avoid charging them in early in low numbers against unweakend enemies
Mine tend to run interference between the enemy and my vypers/tank, they draw fire, and provide light fire support, they are also good at drawing enemy units towards them which means you can isolate your opponents units. They are actually not bad on the charge, the old Siam Hann wild rider chief, with a power weapon and his kin with the family banner was lethal. Now this unit has gone and we have to make do, but a decent sized unit, on the charge, add a autarch and possible a farseer and you have a lethal combination, especialy thanks to the twin linked shuriken fire you pour in as you charge
Everything you have been told is a lie!
The best thing about them though has got to be turbo boosters.
Used them against some space marines in a 1000 point game. 3 Bikes survived an entire round of shooting from 5 Scouts, a land Raider, and a tac squad's missile launcher, without a single wound.
Gareth is the person I try to impress when I convert and paint.
In Reference to the original thread, jetbikes are really cool and they have also worked well with me in the past. However how about adding a Warlock to the squad armed with a Singing Spear and Destrutor. You'll find that they will be a little less suicidal with a better armour penetration rate and better against infantry (Especially medium to light infantry). I use this combination a lot and I've got to hand it to them, they never let me down.
Tghe problem with jetbikes was always the points cost, this meant low numbers which could not cope in combat and tended to get outshot, this has been reduced so they cope better, but what Heiromyo is aluding to is still the issue, you need to do a lot of damage before you charge, the fact you tend to have bigger units or be prepared to lose the unit due to the reduced cost helps now, as does adding a warlock with destructor
Everything you have been told is a lie!
so far ive only used them to go in with a falcon to kill a few enemys while i disembark a squad.however all three of mine have shruiken catapults.where can you get a shruiken cannon for them from?ive checked the games workshop website and they dont have one.
Games Workshop Online Store — Eldar Shrieker Jetbike
There is where you can find bike shuriken cannons.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
