I remember there used 2 be a load of painting variants for the aspect warriors, possibly in the first codex. Just wondering if there's any where i can see these again, i've done google searches and all sorts but gw dont seem 2 like postin picture of them anymore.
Do you mean different schemes for each aspect, like 5 different Dire Avenger themes? If so, sorry I can't help you but it does sound cool.
If GW have abolished it, it was probably because it doesn't really fit with the fluff; the whole point is that there are set colours for all apsects throughout the Eldar race.
There were some different variations of paint schemes in the Craftworld Eldar Codex (especially of Banshees and Reapers). If thats not what you are refering to, then sorry, I can't help.
"What do Humans know of our pain? We have sung songs of lament since before your ancestors crawled on their bellies from the sea."
- Farseer Eldrad Ulthran of Craftworld Ulthwe
White Dwarf Canada Issue 6 included an Index Xenos section on Aspect Warriors that had 3 different paint scheme variations for most of the aspects (DA's only got 2 and Shinning Spears just the 1). It was pretty recent (November 2006) and I have a feeling the section ran in non-Canadian WDs too, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.
Thousand Sons ~2750 points | Eldar ~1000 points
Tzeentch Daemons ~2000 points
there was a thing on apsect colours in the wight dwarf when the new codex came out....
and PaRaSiTe_X92 your wrong. there are variations in the shrines, the squads and somtimes even the models.
I love Pathfinders.
Thanks guy's i'll try an check those out, should be able 2 pick up a mates craftworld eldar in the next couple of day. Yea, eldrach is right, playing dawn of war on thee uthwe army reminded me of the dragons with black helmets so i thought id remind myself of the others.
However, I don't agree that there could be pink scorpions and blue fire dragons; it just doesn't fit! I think they should keep their main two or three colours, but the rest can be changed, as with the placement of the colours.
Just my thoughts anyways.
Its a matter of taste. I paint my hawks in a phoenix colour scheme. They look damn good, but are not grey/blue. I just say thats how the this particular shrine makes them. Sure the "majority" of shrines will be similar, but if your craftworld isn't one of the big ones, or is out on the fringes, then the colour scheme will be well different.
I paint all my aspect warriors in my craftworld's colours. I do ensure to include primary shrine colour somewhere on the model as an accent though. I really disagree that all aspect warriors should be painted with their shrine colours, it is very difficult to get a nice cohesive looking army on the table when you do that. I know many people say you can 'trim' your aspect warriors in the craftworld colour but I find that doesn't provide enough unity to the army and it ends up looking like a circus. This is all based on personal preference of course, if anybody likes using all aspect colours then I say go for it. It's all about what you like.
So as far as alternative Shrine colours go I say any colours scheme is a 'shrine' colour scheme.

That's one of the reasons I chose Eldar; the colour mixture. I found single-coloured armies very boring.
